Just picked up my new 09 XTX today and got to say I love it.

I bought a Nytro 40th MTX last year and was not impressed with it...actually I hated the ride and realized quite fast that it was not the machine for me or the conditions I drive in. I went to the dealer a few weeks back and took a XTX for a day test run and once I got off it I think the forsale sign was on the MTX before I even got home....sold the mountain in a week or so and had the dealer get the xtx ready for delivery.....before I took it I had it studded, ice scratchers put on, 2 gas buddies installed a dc input for GPS, belly pan and a extra clip and belt as it did not come with a extra belt.

A little to early to make a prediction but I do expect it will be with me for a few years to say the least!

Are you guys still riding up there?

Yeah we can still ride here, although the snow is disappearing! Up @ the cabin about three 3 hours north of me there is gobs of snow left up there yet! Possibly got a ride planned there for this weekend! ;)!

I am trying to get my buddy to get off his Polaris onto a XTX, so I used to get on here to get info...now I find myself on here to look at eightpilot's avitar. Look at the shitter on that critter!

Hi, I kinda ran out of winter here, So I am pretty much done tuning till next year. I am coming off of a Skidoo 500ss Adrenaline(still have) that I was pretty satisfied with the chassis and suspension. Trying to get my RTX tom handle the same as my 500ss did. I do love the motor on the Nytro!! I have adjusted the Fox Floats a few times, I seem to be happy right around 55psi(with weight off of ski's) The rear shocks, I set the front shock at pretty much no pre-load, The rear torsion spring is set on its hardest setting. The limiter straps are still in the original settings. The clickers are set on the soft/slow side for now (still room for improvement) Over all, I am now pretty happy with the suspension settings I have.
My biggest complaint now is that when I decelerate/chop the throttle, at speeds above 50 to 60 mph, the front end seems to really bite in and dart around, and feels like the rear traction gets pretty loose. I don't have any picks,(kinda wanna keep it that way) and think that picking the track would help with some of the problem. Some people have suggested changing out the ski's, but I would like to try to tune it a bit first, before running out and just throwing parts at it. My last adjustment was to flip the ski mount rubbers, but have yet to get to try and see how that works, Gonna have to wait till next winter. Also found a recommended cheap fix, A member has designed a Dartless ski mod(1/2 piece of pipe) and seem to hear good things about it.
Anyway, look like I am gonna have to wait untill next season to continue my chassis/suspension tunning, but again like I mentioned, I love the torque, This motor rocks!

That feeling when the front dives down will go away once you get used to the engine breaking. It is very noticable on the Apexes as well. Once I got used to going into the corners and not letting off the gas all the way you can really rail with these Yammies.

Where do you ride at Gary?? I ride Tug Hill and in my opinion the Nytro was built for Tug Hill. Here is the way I have my Nytro set up to run very well on Tug Hill's trails. I took the front limiter strap up 2 holes, changed skis to the C&A Razors with 7.5 Shaper Bars, studded with 144 Woody Gold Diggers down the middle, run about 65psi in my Fox Shox, and last but the best improvement to the darting problem is the toe out on my skis (1/4") on each ski. Also, it wouldn't hurt to squirt some expandable foam in the handlebars to improve on the handwarmers.

I ride in SW Pa., But have been up to Old Forge once this winter(best riding conditions I had all season). I think If I picked the track and changed the ski's that would probably fix most of my problems. But I really don't wanna pic the track, and was hoping to avoid buying ski's by simply doing some trial and error adjustments and tuning. The limiter strap adjustment is an option I have yet to explore. Kinda doing one adjustment at a time, then take it riding for a day. See if its better or worse and then go from there.

Thanks, Gary
