Get gauntlets for$30

My first ride on my nytro it was -15f. My hands froze. I think I felt the Warmers working maybe once for about 5 min all day.

My second ride I added spray foam to the bars and felt a bit more heat. It was hovering around 0f, but the wind was blowing bad so temps had to be close to the first day with the chill factor.

Halfway thru the second day I put on my brothers gauntlets and almost immediately the grips got hot. Then they got so hot I was uncomfortable and had to turn them down to about 3/4 power.

At first the gauntlets were in the way, ive never ridden with them before. But after 30 min I learned to ignore them.

I've read quite a bit on the subject here and clearly the yamaheater is the way to go, but for those of us not ready to spend the 250, try this cheap fix first. :o|

I run the Dumbo ears.

I rode -5 last weekend and the nytro is a COLD #*$&@ sled. Hands cold and groin area. I thought I was going to piss an ice cube. It's definately a "fair weather" sled.

I think I'm going to break out the gauntlets again this winter as well. They're a pain in the #*$&@ for off-trail riding, but for cold-weather riding on a Nytro, they're pretty much obligatory.

You have to have the right gear then it's no problem.

Not sure why you balls froze, that area is pretty well protected. Did u have them on display? :jump:

I have the Yamaheater and boost. We were riding last week in -20C or -4F and my hands would get too hot to put on full. I have the tall windshield with deflectors. I wear the Yamaha Klim with an extralayer of clothing underneath for every -10C. I also ride about 80% standing up.

We have also gotten caught on a multiday loop and-40C or -40F. That is when you put on everything you have and heaters on full. :winter:

I run leather gauntlets(gloves) and FXR Nitro gear. I've never been cold in the body once and that was when I had my shorty windsheild on.

Had to turn the stock warmers on my 2011 to about half power this weekend in Northern WI, temps were in the -10F's to -20F's. Won't be needing any upgrades for me!

I had the same problem with my hand warmers....they were junk. I was fortunate enough to have one of the elements burn out and had them replaced by warranty. Yamaha supplies replacement warmers and they are far better than the stock warmers. I rarely run the hand warmers over half now...way better. Got the Dumbo ears on my handguards too....they definitly help as well.
