08 nytro with mcx turbo
Alright so I did have the sled apart to fix some turbo related leaks and change the plugs. I finally got my parts in for the turbo so I got it back together and went for a test ride... Damn thing wont pull past 7000 RPM (range is 6500-7000). What could be causing this to happen? Is it a wiring issue, do the plugs have to be gapped? To make matters worse I can't even see if the new actuator fixed my leak problem because it only builds 5lbs at such low RPM.. So any guesses you guys may have would be welcomed!

Hows the clutches? If you pull the belt off can you rev the engine over 7000 ?

Pete

Yep belt off it hit red line at 9300.. what's the fix for this?

Clean those clutches and check the springs in both. Make sure you follow shop manual on bolt torques and proper settings for secondary.

Alright, I will do that and get back with the results in the morning. Could it also be the weights? My uncle had a supercharged apex and he said it was very finicky about weights

I'm assuming it ran fine before with the weights you have. So I would'nt think so.

Can you dial up the boost? Is there a new waste gate spring installed?

Sorry it took me so long to reply to you guys. I suppose I have had luck. The problem seems to be cylinder #3 as it isn't firing. (didn't really know what to look for in the way of how it should sound because I've never owned one before now) It has good spark so I'm guessing the piston is fucked. I'll try compression testing as soon as I can get an adapter to fit the hole. The boost however works marvelously as it now pushes 10lbs on half a motor >:/ I didn't think about compression before because it has relatively low kms for a Nytro (or so I had come to understand) at 3500

Well maybe you will luck out. Could be a loose injector wire or bad injector. If compression is good.

Pete

I guess I'll see what the compression is and then go from there. My brother joked and told me I should just light it on fire haha

Wishing you good luck. Hold off on the match.

So it turns out all my problems have been casued by a broken injector wire.

Good luck after all!!

Pete
