I've done some searching on here but haven't found exactly what I was looking for.
My 08 LTX has Dalton clutching and the primary was set at 6-2. I tested it on a race strip and it worked fine then i set it at 6-1 and tried it again. This time the track ratcheted bad. I tightened the track and tried taking off a few times and it was good . A week later i was driving slow and hit the gas and it ratcheted again.
The track seems quite tight now. Only hangs 1/2" below hyfax, the track and drivers look good. The limiter strap is set as loose as it can be (probably needs tightened?). Does anyone have any suggestions? It seems like I need to tighten the track more but it is even tighter than specs.

Track ratcheting is not uncommon on the Apexs without extroverts, especially when in deep snow, you need to gradually tighten the track until it no longer ratchets. Worn high mileage drivers make the problem more pronounced and require a tighter track.

Yep, once they start ratcheting and have wear, it is hard to get them to stop.Track ratcheting is not uncommon on the Apexs without extroverts, especially when in deep snow, you need to gradually tighten the track until it no longer ratchets. It has 10000kms on it, so the drivers would have some wear. I never had it ratchet on me until I changed the clutch ratio. I am contemplating about changing it back, but it seems like 6-1 is the best setup. I will try tightening it a little more.

Yeah the newer ones use an added extrovert driver as shown.unfortunately with a tight track you will see rapid slide wear, you may have to get it thru the season&add the extroverts.then you can run the track loose&never worry about ratcheting againIt has 10000kms on it, so the drivers would have some wear. Do you have any experience with OEM extroverts vs aftermarket?Yeah the newer ones use an added extrovert driver as shown.unfortunately with a tight track you will see rapid slide wear, you may have to get it thru the season&add the extroverts.then you can run the track loose&never worry about ratcheting again
The aftermarket extroverts like Wahl makes are probably the easiest swap as you only need the 2 drivers on the shaft as they act as both an introvert and extrovert all in one.. The OEM extroverts are additional drivers to the introvert drivers so a total of four drivers need to be pressed in place. The aftermarket extroverts also result in less rotating mass.
Also drive shaft size comes into play on the 2008s as I think the shaft size is smaller on 2006-2008 Apexs then the 2009 and up shafts that had the extroverts...not positive about this though.

Great information. Thanks! I could always just change the 2 outer drivers to the OEM extroverts but I'm thinking it would be best to change them all. If I do that I am better off going with 2 wahls. I'll look into the shaft size to make sure I get the right ones. The aftermarket extroverts like Wahl makes are probably the easiest swap as you only need the 2 drivers on the shaft as they act as both an introvert and extrovert all in one.. If it was mine, I'd put a new shaft in while you're at it. 06-08 eventually snap.Great information. Thanks! I agree.
What I did on my Attak was buy a Heavy Duty shaft from Ulmer Racing with the extroverts already on it then there is no need to figure out the proper location on the drivers or have someone press them on/off for you. That was many years ago so I don't know if he still has them.

I sent Ulmer a message. I'll take yours and 74Nytro's advice and replace the shaft too. I would rather get one with the sprockets installed so I don't have to deal with trying to press them on in the right spot.I agree.

I will have a whole new problem if I install extrovert drivers. Every third window is closed on the track...
