M-10 - Can I install it by myself?

Measure 20x drill once. Get-er-dun! :drink:

did mine with a friend, a bit easier but you can do it yourself too .
As everyone said , measure 20 x and drill once .
I did a couple of things different than the instructions but all in all it was easy , but again it depends on you level too .
The sites istructions are what I printed off , read them 10 times and have them with you , you should be fine

I started the install on my RX-1 and got the old skid out and I've removed the brackets. I'm looking at the instructions from the TY site and the Fast instructions that came with the install kit and I'm getting confused. The TY instructions seem simpler but also are a little contradictory in spots. The kit came with 2 brackets that are called "M-10 Front Support Plate" the instructions say to install these on the inside of the tunnel, but the tunnel already has the bracket that has the V shaped receiver already there with the hole just needing to be enlarged. Do you install these brackets or are they redundant or for some other sled? I also did not get any notched spacers or turned down ends on the shafts. Do I need to notch these or am I missing something here too?
Also the TY instructions say to drill 2 holes at the bottom of the 4 rivet holes in the stock black plates. If so that sounds like I will now have 6 rivet holes in the plates. What gets used? The Fast instructions make placement of the back plate much harder if all we are doing is using the rivet holes that are already there as pilot holes for the new mounting holes. Why?

Thanks

This seems like it should not be difficult just that the instructions are a little fuzzy sometimes. I really can't wait to start putting the new skid in by myself. That will be fun. Not!

Kind of off topic, but I swear the next time I have my skid out I am going to cut off those 'v' shaped receiver flanges. TOTALLY not needed, just makes the skid harder to get back in :o|

Boomer, unless you have a notch in the big aluminum rod that goes between the tunnel you will have to grind off the flange so the rod (tube) fits in between. some installation kits had this notch on them and some dont. I used a six inch grinder and i covered up the best i could to protect from the grinding dust and debris.

mounting an M10

Just grind the V of the front brackets making them flat and smooth. I mounted mine in an Warrior. On the rear bracket i had to drill a new mounting hole in the center at 2 1/4 up from the bottom. Make sure you are exactly 2 1/4 not any more otherwise when you install the bracket at the correct measurement from the front bracket the suspension bolt will be up behind the heat exchanger. RX1 shorty's maybe different I don't know.

Finished the M-10 install and it really is easy after reading the install instructions 100x times measuring 10x. Still think getting the stock skid out is a lot harder than putting in the new M-10. I can't wait to try it out. I can tell just sitting on it and bouncing it that this is gonna save me a lot of hot showers and fewer visits to the pharmacy. All I need is some snow. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Here are some pics and one from the front with the new TY sticker on the windshield.
Thanks again everyone!! for the help and advice. :yam: :rocks: :4STroke:

Glad to see it worked out for you.
Good luck and pray for snow!!

Travis, What the is your problem?
You need to get a clue.
If it is so cheesy, maybe Mr. Sled and the numerous others who care to support TY and are proud to show it are also cheesy. Ever since you first responded to my post for help, you've been a jerk!. I suggest you stop responding to my posts if you don't have anything positive to say.

Oh yeah - Here is the link to the sticker posts, maybe you should consider getting one yourself and start doing something to support this site.

Boomer, t.moore has been the same Idiot all along. He posts about all his idiot freinds , or he is whinning about how they make him pay, and they skip out. Sounds like this guy is a real peach! No wonder everyone takes advantage of him, he treats people like crap. Makes you really wonder why he can't find any freinds to ride with? Who would want to? Look into yourself mr moore, and you will find the problem! :ORC Find your heart before its to late. Hope you have a Wonderful New Year! Honk

And so are your comments! :ORC Some of us like to promote TY and this is a great way to do so. If you don't like it keep your opinions to yourself or you will get a few days off to think about it.
$20 an hour for labor was a generous offer but to think he would be willing to pay for gas and expenses when it would require you to drive 24 hours makes no sense the $100 is not realistic at all, gas alone would be far more than that.

tm. check out the sticky to see how much interest is in this sticker placement. Shows that the TY site ROCKS!! and you may meet someone that you only have spoken with. Maybe you might be able to find some new friends this way, seeing you have None! Check your anger Pal, really shows the real YOU! It ain't pretty!
