M10 Suspension in RX-1

I'm thinking about buying a used M10 suspension from a low mileage 2003 Polaris (hit a tree)- I looked at the install instructions in the technical section and it looks pretty easy but still have a few questions:
-does the M10 stop the excessive slider wear?
-do I need any other mounting brackets or hardware that won't come with a used skid and if so where can you buy?
-is the ride that much better than stock RX-1?
-what's a good price for a used M10 skid with about 2700 miles on it?

Yes it does stop excessive slider wear. You need adapter brackets for mounting m-10 to Yamaha tunnel. Yes, ride is much much better than stock rx1. Good price would be about half of list. Great price would be 500-1000, assuming shocks etc are in good shape. I did all of this, then put air ride in and finally gave up and bought a 2011 skidoo Gsx se. Now, don't have to make a sign of the cross when in mush and enter a corner too fast. Good luck and is worth doing.

I just did mine. Ride much better. Here is a step by step. I did not need the brackets they speak of you just relocate the existing back ones.

Watch the allen key bolts that skid come with the skid. The heads are too thick and just about touch the heat exchanger when you relocate the back brackets. I screwed both of mine from the flex of the side while standing. Go get some 7/16 * 1 1/2 grade 8 bolts and use those. The heads leave more room and you can still tighten them with an open end wrench.

Cost: I found one rebuilt top to bottom including shocks, powerder coating, wheels, and wearable parts for $450 CAD. It was a basket case but it was all there. Great deal accept I screwed my exchangers and had to replace. Got them used for $100 a side and a butt load of my labour. This skid with an apex seat makes it a whole new sled.

After doing a little more research I'm finding that there are a few different versions of the M10 for Polaris, Ski-Doo, FAST M10-3, etc- is there any one in particualr that works best with Yamahas or should I just look for one that has the best shocks? Do they all have the same mounting configuration?

I bought mine new, it is a Fast M10. Paid 1200 installed.

i have a fast in my warrior and the hi-fax wear is terrible but well worth the difference in the ride! I can change hi-fax for the better ride! I love my M-10!

I've got an M10 on my '03 RX1 and the hyfax wear isn't bad. They will wear down to a point the the load is reduced by the wheels and they just stay at that point. I think a lot of folks change them out prematurely.

Also, you'll save yourself some nice $$ by getting replacement hyfax from your local Polaris dealership instead of straight from FAST as the M10 was factory on their sleds for a while.

Yep, I get my hyfax & wheels @ Polaris dealer. I did add an extra wheel to reduce wear, no problems.
