M10 suspension top speed impact

I had an M10 back in 1996 and thru the years I ended putting it in 6 different sleds (3 SRX 700s), loved that thing. All with a loss of about 5mph on top end. I have two questions. 1) Should I expect to lose top end speed with the new M10's in my RTX, and 2) Will it corner flatter due to less weight transfer? Right now I have the limiter straps on 2nd from the tightest to corner effectively with 6" duallys but inside ski lift is still a concern unless I have my weight as far forward as possible.

Really no need to go to an M-10 unless you just want to try it out. If you do - worthless going to the M-10 - it does have transfer issues - go to the M-12.

3-5 mph loss - closer to 3 if you run your track good and loose.

Three points 1) The mono shock suspension does not handle the stutter bumps nearly as well as an M10, 2) The mono shock has a tendency to bottom out and if you stiffen it up its stiff over everything while the M10 is not and 3) Weight transfer is a problem with the mono shock. Less weight transfer would give a more predictable cornering effect than the mono. It might not hook up quite as well but I think you could set up the skid to give more predictable cornering. Those are the reasons I am thinking of going back to the M10. The reason I would not go to the M12 is because the ride height will be higher than the stock mono or the M10 giving it more of a feeling of topheavyness.

as far as I know everything you encounterd before is the same. I put a 136 m10 in my warrior and didn't notice any change in cornering compared to stock. The ride was much improved as you know though. I also put 8" rear wheels in the back so I did not loose any top end. Also, shaving 1/8" off the coupling blocks helps with transfer. I could pull the skiis from a dead stop on hardpack and from a roll it would hold the front up so just the back of the skiis would bounce off the snow, just about perfect.

I will probably be putting the skid up for sale this weekend. The sled will be going to 'race only' on the asphalt.

1) I spent 3000 miles on my M-10 (02 XC800) and 2000 miles on my monoshock - neither is any better than the other in the stutters, moguls or what not. They are dead on similar in their characteristics - IMO. Both are great for that.

2) My mono did bottom a little easier than my M-10 - I'll give you that.

3)I can't see a weight transfer problem with the Mono - you can have it transfer very little or a lot - it's up to you. The M-10 has little to no ability to transfer. The way it is setup is not bad, but it just doesn't give you the adjustability - and some people don't need that.

Your right about the M-12 being taller.

Like I said, if you want to try something different in your sled, get the M-10 - but I highly doubt it will be an improvement.

I put an Xpert in my 05 RX1 to try something different. It handles the heavier stuff (jumping, big rollers) much better than my M-10 and Mono did - but it doesn't deal with the ligther stuff as well - good - but just not as good. And I have gone through just about every range of adjustment in all three skids.
