excellent choice.... I rode greenville last night and it was absolutely decimated. they obviously had not groomed all day if the night before.
houlton is a great starting point, for a few days or starting point for a tour of the county. right off the interstate, lots of hotels, dealerships, great trail systems in all three directions, many loops.

saturday we rode over to shin pond village and had dinner, then rode up to lake view and had supper. 340mls. we were on no trails that were more than a day old and most were groomed the night before. on the way home we passed a few groomers grooming trails that were in great condition to start with.

Ok, after doing a 250 mile trip, from my house to Milo, Dover, Abbott, through Greenville, Kokadjo and back to my house through Joe Mary/5 Lakes Lodge, I can say that you made the correct choice. The trails where good before and after Greenville but I think they must have parked there groomers and gone on strike because it was about 10 miles of constant studders a before and about 20 miles after on the way to kokadjo. You could tell that it was not just that the trails where getting abused but rather was from a lack of maintenance.
guys, just to remind you, in two weekends, there is a ty ride in maine.
check it out over in the ty ride threads.
hope to see you there
