ST ZENON QUEBEC

- Sounds like some mixed emotions about this place?

- Like I asked...is it remote?
- Who were Allain and Danny?
- Were they killed on sleds or what?

- Getting second thoughts about going to this place.

Me too John, no worries scratching this place from my bucket list! :drink:

Is not that remote
Allain and Danny were murdered in the nearby Le Refuge a small inn for sledders (shot and then the place was burned to the ground)
A mystery never solved just like how sleds can be stolen from a locked guarded area at Le Cabanon
Makes you wonder.

Some say was some jealousy for the success of the small lodge competing against le cabanon.

There has never been any justice for them.

Us to go there every year . Way to much money now and the place is just not the same. We could go for aweek and spend 1200 to 1500 . Now 2000 or more don't mind spending the money but when i have to think about all my stuff. It takes away the fun of the trip. I have 4 friends that had things stolen or tried to and want to keep my things .I can drive to places in maine or new hampshire an be safe in the same time it takes to get to st zenon.

There are many safe secure places.
With the exchange rate now compared to back in the day you got to want to ride the best trails, it's not cheaper just farther.
Maybe some of Maine is for sure like quebec but not the same.

This Is my second trip My buddy that I am going with Is his 22nd year going no problems And as you can see by my posts i have no problems reccomending it you can go to the post office and get your car stolen! The owner who is in his late 60s would come to our table for breakfast every morning and which trail to head out on by grooming conditions

We rode in Quebec for years. They have great trails. However don,t expect to get your Quebec insurance money back, ever. It is a huge scam. You can fill out forms forever, in french, and you will finally say, F*#K it. I,m never going back. Been there, been had. Sometimes it is the principal of the situation that pisses people off. We also have awesome trails in Ontario, so we have decided to ride them more instead. Much safer, and no hassles !!!

I have been sledding in La Belle Provence for 13 years now and have never had any issues getting my $42.00 back and will again this year. They are pretty sneaky how they word the Max Neige form and if you screw up you get squat! I think they count on you screwing it up. Quebec Gov. at its best! :die Also has to be regestered mail. Helps to have it translated but even then not easy.

As far as riding there we usually go on a 3-4 day trip in St Michel de Saint/St Zenon and love every minute of it. Haven't had theft or worry issues yet but knock on wood!

Your need your own insurance to ride in ontario. In quebec you get insurance when you buy there trail pass. Dont ask me how much. You can cancel that insurance by sending in a form as ithappens mentioned. Prove that you have your own insurance and you get $40 back.

The problem with the Quebec insurance scam is the fact that even thought you have proof of Ontario insurance, or wherever your are from, they still force you to buy there insurance, and then go thru a hell of a hassle to apply for a refund by filling out there forms, which are usally in French. And you will have something wrong filled out on the form, and the merry-go -round continues, until you say F@#K it !! Been there, been had, ONCE. I spoke to the Quebec trailer pass sellers @ the Toronto show about this scam, and they just shrug there shoulders. Maybe they don,t speak English. WTF !!!

If 40 bucks is really that big a deal and you can not afford to chalk it up to the price of sledding then perhaps this is not the hobby for you.
It can be expensive.

I understand it's buying something you already paid for in Ontario but it's just 40 bucks if that is gonna bankrupt you or cause you to lose sleep sell the sleds man

Plus trail pass's, plus the gas getting there, plus accomodations, plus the fact theft seems to be high, is it really worth it?

Myself, I think I will just stick to Ontario trails and not have to worry about much of the above ;)!

Like I said it is Expensive for sure. No matter where. Especially if you saddle bag it. No doubt.
I am just saying 40 bucks for insurance should not be a deal breaker. When you look at the big picture (a whole season). Costs are big.
Can not be cheap if you want to ride sleds.
Not a poor mans game at all.
