Maine VS Quebec

Bob, when you were doing your research, did happen to see how much a 1 day pass in Quebec is? I would hope it's not the full $250. Would like to go there for a day but not going to pay that much.
Justinator and 170, I'll keep you guys in mind. Might just have to go there. My sled isn't handling the best on the twisties and cousin has a mod'ed 05 Fusion 900 so I kinda want open trails.
Hey, is Bee-Jay's a cool bar to go to in Fort Kent and it's right across from Northern Door Inn right? We'd like to stay at a place where there's a bar right within walking distance.

$50 a day
$150 a week
$250 a season

Today the US dollar is worth $.97 Canadian
#$%&* :o|

I was reading about Hondo and I copied and pasted this comment:
This season will find out why riding is better in Aroostook County, Maine.

Who knows the closest vantage point or town to stay in to access this part of Maine's trail system, coming from Connecticut?

What's hondo?
I just came back from Sicily, the US dollar was worth .67 euro. . .nice. Didn't go out in town that much that's for sure.

Get your Maine ITS map out.

Go from Greenville through Kokadjo, to Millinocket, through Baxter Park perimiter road to Mattagammon and stay there or Shin Pond Village. Next day to Oxbow, to Ashland to Portage to Eagle Lake to Fort Kent. Stay there.

Next day to St. Agatha, Houlton, Sherman, Benedicta & back to Millinocket.

Next day, back to Greenville.

You will see everything from heavilly wooded areas, to beautiful mountain scenes to endless rolling farmland. Trails will range from fairly narrow but well groomed, to ungroomed (Baxter), to wide and wide open super highways.

Lots of effort is put into signing, brushing & grooming by lots of dedicated volunteers. Gas & food is pleantiful and people are friendly.

And man do we have snow!

Just a trip I'd do if I get time myself.

bee jays isnt too bad, somenights its pretty packed and other nights its pretty slow. Kinda touch and go. But it is right next to northern door, track down kennels is a bar as well. Popular snowmobile stop and some nights is a pretty good time as well. All the bars around here are busy as hell one weekend and slow the next, you just never know what to expect.

You guys where a blast  I enjoyed riding with you all :flag:
How's your buddy with the Firecat that went ouch :o| Did he switch to a Yammie yet?

Anyone, want to go on a snowmobile trip to either places? My own brother just bailed on our trip that has been planned since august for the end of this month! Not happy.

If you really want to ride in Quebec you need to go further. I ride in the Saugueney/Charlevoux area every year. I tried Maine once but it wasn't the same quality. This year I have 2 trips to Quebec both are touring. It is getting too expensive so next year I have to cut back but the yearly trail pass isn't that much more than a weekly pass, the sled insurance, depreciation and annual maintanance is almost the same if you ride 500 miles in a year or 2000 miles. If you end up buying trail passes in Maine and quebec than you are paying a lot extra. Stick to 1 state/provence.
Good luck

I register in Maine anyway for $69 because you have to be registered somewhere to ride in Quebec, and I've been doing this for years! And the registration is all you need in Maine to ride there 13000 miles of trails ;)! No trail pass required :tg:
I'm going to Real Masse in Quebec next week Jan 14-18th to ride the highways of snow LaLaLa
And I'm going to Shin Pond Maine and staying at Mt Chase Lodge Feb 11-15th ;)!
I've been going to Quebec for the last 14 years, so when I come back from Maine, I can give some good feedback :flag: One thing is for sure! I'll be saving A LOT OF MONEY :-o

I would agree that Saugueney/Charlevoux is great but I have ridden northern maine also . Sorry , but coming to Maine once could hardly give you an accurate picture of how good the trails are here. In the last 3 years "the county "had snow when many places in Quebec did not. Quebec is great, I have enjoyed every trip but you have to watch your sled and truck/trailer every minute. In maine we leave the keys in our sleds.

Yes! How true that is about theft! A couple of years ago before they had security at Real Masse there was a theft of a complete rig (Truck and Trailer) Real and his son in law Gil raced after them and caught them on the road, the thieves jumped out of the stolen rig and ran! Real and Gil gave chase :-o Real in his sixties caught one of them and DECKED HIM ;):D actually breaking a bone in his hand, that he hit him so hard, and when the Mounties arrived the guy was bleeding pretty bad, Real said he fell when he was chasing him :bump: :dunno: Gil found the other one trying to hide in the woods :drink: Real and Gil are also excellent trackers! There was no escape :o| I laughed my arse off
