Hello. I am buying an 03 RX1 (short track) with the stock track on it. What stud length should I use, and is there a preferred # of studs to use (I was thinking in the range of 120-140).
Thanks,
MJB

If its a stock finger track, go with 1.180s...BBY

hey turbo mike, do yourself a favor and junk the track and go with a 1.25 ripsaw. A lot of people don't even stud them. The stock track is not enough track for the rx1.

turbo,
I bought a used 03 with a 1.25 camo track. I wish it had a stock track. If you ride mostly groomed trails, as I do, you have the best track. The 1.25 requires long studs, that will either bend over, or rip out if you hook anything solid. I'll take a 1" with 192 studs any day.

I have a 03 that i put a ripsaw in with 144 1.375 in the center belt, It was the best improvement that i made. After 1300 Mi on Wisconsin trail's i have two slightly bent stud's. That stock track is the biggest POS track available. You will not see the full potential of that sled with the stock track except in extreme hard pack and even then i had excessive stretching and ratcheting over 100 and it was tight to spec and then some, you could have played a tune on it.The stock track has 4 nipples that are 1" on each bar and the rest are shorter than that (not nearly enough track for 140 HP and that kind of torque). It was mentioned that that track was a fill in because the Ripsaw was not ready for 03 production.

There you go. I have a stock track w/studs and I keep it spinning (no Hook up). I've been with other riders with the ripsaw and they can go places that I wouldnt.

Turbo, I an considering extending my 03 to a 136. Just need to look around for pricing on 136" kits. If I do go this route, I will have a Camo 9818 (1.25") track that was just purchased last year along with 144 Woody Mega Bites (1.325") studs and Stud Boy Power Plate backer plates for sale. The studs and backers were also new when installed. They are only down the center but went with a 144 pattern that can be increased to 192 by simply studding the outside belts; although I was very satisfied with just the 144 down the center. If interested, I will look into what I have in it and then come up with resale price and we can go from there.
