Rivets length?

I had the priviledge of putting a stud through my front heat exchanger. I know the rivets are 3/16 but should the length be 1/2" or 5/8". I read on another post they should be steel (zink coated?) but what does Yamaha use? stainless steel?

In case you haven't removed it yet. I had mine welded at a race shop thousands of miles ago. he did it right on the sled, saved me allot time and money!

Unfortuanately I found that out after i brought it to they guy. Turns out he builds drag bikes. Took two us 6 hours to take it all apart... DOH!
