Has anyone bought the Weight Transfer Quick Nuts from Maxximum? The concept is great, the quality is A+, but the design seems to have left out a very important feature... They don't use the scribe lines on the shafts? I'm not sure why they left out this important feature. All they had to do is make the collar longer on one end.

The position show in the photo below represents the nuts being fully threaded onto the shafts. They simply will not thread down any more.

Oh well, they will still be alot more convenient that the two wrench method, but it is a disappointment to me...

Feel free to set me straight if I'm missing something... I won't be insulted.

I've used these on my older chassis Yammies and liked them. I'd like to put a set on the Vector. It is indeed odd that they don't reference the factory scribe lines though.

If you guys are interested I could do a group buy on these and try to save you a few bucks.

Modified Maxximum Quick Nuts

OK Guys, I just couldn't have these Quick Nuts not use the scribe lines... partly for usefulness and mostly for my incessant perfectionism.

SOOOO, I made a press fit collar to modify the original poor design. This collar is made from black delrin plastic and is press fit and setscrewed (just one to prevent slipping while turning)

Basically, the collar extends the length of the Quick Nut by the required 0.25" to align with the scribe lines.
As a side benefit, I made the collars to the max OD that would fit so there is more leverage to make turning the nuts easier in the cold.

See the picture below...

LOL! How's the snow out there?

Hey, garserio- the collars look great. Wonder why they weren't made like that to begin with if they are for this suspension setup?

serious questions on the Nuts - do you feel like buying a set of these quick nuts for me, and doing adding the collars like you did?

I'll mail you a check in advance..just tell me how much!! PM me if you want.

2more - the ground is white, but that's about it. Recent cold weather is freezing things up well. Some areas of northern WI (Vilas & Oneida ctys) wont be opening until at least 12/16 as recent heavy snow and winds brought down many trees, and the trails have to be cleared...AGAIN! Where I live we had some issues, but we're pretty much ready to go..just waiting for the white stuff!

I'd take you up on your offer, but here's the problem... I don't own a lathe, so I sneak onto the one at work after hours... It's kind of shady as I work for a big corporation with all kinds of "safety" concerns.

They like to keep engineers like myself away from the equipment! It's kind of funny, but that's the deal.

So I wish I could help you, but I've already used my "get out of jail free" ticket...

Ulmer Racing offered a "group buy" Perhaps instead you can get Ulmer Racing to get a small batch of nuts made correctly (0.250" longer collar on one end). They might even be able to get Maxximum to change their design?

Good Luck, Greg
