Where has everyone mounted the blow off valve. Pictures would be great! Nice kit but I find the instructions lacking. 2009 Nytro XTX.

Thanks

Hmm the blow off valve is mounted on the MCX plenum! Atleast it is on a stock MCX kit.. .

TCV!

Oops, meant the TCV valve !!!!

It mounts on the plate between the muffler and intake on the intake side. There should be a hole there.

This is where I have mine (this picture was taken when I disconnected it cause I have installed a manual boost controller).

The point is to mount it so that you dont get ice buildup on it. I never think I did, altho I`m not going back to the TCV cause it didnt work as it should in my case.

Kimoajaj: What was yours doing/not doing that you say it didn't work for you?

Sorry about that, the picture disappeared!

Well the case was that it didnt do anything actually, some days I was riding with the same boost all day.
In the beginning I recall having seen somewhat higher boost numbers but lately its been stuck at 4psi.

I dont know if it`s actually broken or if it`s just not functioning properly. A couple of my friends have also disonnected it and are running manual adjusters.

But, hook it up and try it. If it works good for you, be happy:)

The behaviour of the TCV can be adjusted by altering the settings in the MCX box, this can be done with a PC program and a cable connected to the MCX box. You can edit how much the TCV should increase the boost according elevation changes, you can also set different boost levels at different rpms, for example you could lower the boost close to the rev limiter. (I have never tried changing the TCV behavior, I just installed a manual controller since I know it works).

If you dont run the correct boost numbers you are missing lots of hps! Just keep an eye on your pressure and personally I find my Prosport gauge with boost peak recall very handy since you don't have to stare at the boost gauge when you ride.

Also, many of us are running with a tunnel block-off plate under the turbo to prevent ice buildup around the turbo/wastegate hoses/tcv. This creates a more "stabile" environment for the turbo and you dont have to worry about wastegate hoses with big chunks of ice on them (a broken hose to the wastegate will make your engine overboost heavily) or an icy TCV.

I guess you have a new 180kit but the first kits didnt have holes drilled in the waste gate clock, the hole is there to let moisture out so that it cant freeze.

My friends and I made a custom blockoff plate and it works really good. I guess there are aftermarket plates available.
