Talked to a guy that had his powersteering fail on the apex, it was shorting out and turning itself on the lake! He couldn't go more then 40 mph. Ran to the dealer about 2 hrs away and they said the connection looked loose and it was wet inside so they fixed that and he was back and said it felt good after that.
Just a FYI to the new powersteering boys!

i wouldnt worry about that,it is a bulletproof system that rarely fail, but it can happen,on the quads they are subject to rain, mud, dirt and so on,both my grizzlies have it with 10 000 miles combined with no issues,

Yeah but kinger said the guy's sled was turning on it's own...very scary. You could probally just disconnect it in a pinch.

Yeah this is all straight from the guy he said he was holding the bars as straight as he could and it was moving left and right. He couldn't get above 40 mph for fear of crashing. The sled has less then 100 miles on it.
I dont think its a flaw maybe yamaha just didn't get the connector seated properly.
Just wanted to put it out there so if anybody had trouble with it actually steering when you dont want it to might be something to look at before going to the dealer.
I have no idea where the connector is if they routed it out from the motor into the engine bay of if its next to the power steering motor under the gas tank. My gut is thinking they routed it out from under there and its accessible without the full out tear down needed to get to the actual motor.

Thanks for the heads up. No issues yet and 1,700 fatigue free kms. Keeping my fingers crossed that there's no first year issues. Just the regular hyfax issue so far and scratchers are solving this.

Mine stopped working for a while last week at -28c.Steered ok, seemed a little stiff on a slow tight turn and I noticed eps display in gauge. After stopping for fuel, eps display went out and steering returned to normal.400 kms since then has worked fine.I was going to check connections at eps controller in nose, was packed full of snow.I only noticed increase steering effort on a tight low speed turn, about the same as my 08 Apex. Not a problem to drive when it was off.
