After a very cold 125 mile ride last weekend I have a ton of ice on my VL (probably 50 lbs). I'd like to get rid of this extra weight but have no heated garage or barn.
Has anyone had any luck covering the rear end of the sled with something like a tarp and letting it run and heat up under the tarp to free the ice? I'd rather not go in there with a rubber mallet.

That might work, just keep an eye on it and don't sit on the sled while it's running of course. If that doesn't work, what about a propane heater with a blower?

An exhaust extension will solve the icing issue once and for all.. it's a lot of work but worthwhile. The icing was a real pain to say the least! There are threads on here explaining the extensions.

I have the extension and hasn't really helped. I think a fully enclosed tunnel like you did is the only way.

Yes, that is correct, I did try just the extension at first and it didn't help - but with it enclosed it is much improved.I have the extension and hasn't really helped. I think a fully enclosed tunnel like you did is the only way.
