Jennifer Granholm has signed a bill to increase snowmobile registration and trail permit fees for the 2009-2010 season. The bill increases registration from $22 to $30 starting July 1. In addition, trail permits will increase from $25 to $35 for next season and then to $45 for 2011 through 2015, the governor's office reports. Bill Manson, executive director of the Michigan Snowmobile Association, said his organization lobbied hard for the increase, and he's pleased with the bill. He says the fees were increased in an effort to prevent a $1 million deficit. Fees collected are designat- ed for the Snowmobile Trail Fund, which includes a permanent trail easement to prevent a loss of a trail section due to private land being sold. I heard that last year they took 6 million out of the trail fund and put it in the general fund until MSA came to our rescue.

If you are not a member of the MSA , you should be even if you dont live in Michigan but use the trails.

Yes I'm sure, I bought 3 of them at Nelson's Snow Motion, back in August.
