I've never had to screw around with our carbs except for dropping our needles a notch. All of a sudden we have three tons running crappy in the midrange. Idle and full open are OK but they burble in the midrange. One even pops and backfifes a little. I checked the needles and slides to make sure something hadn't come lose. I was going to try some new plugs in them. All sleds have around 2k miles and probably have never had them changed. It's like all of a sudden a cylinder kicks in when you open it up. I tried removing coil wires on idle and all seem to be firing. All these sleds were running great previously. One guy is using 92 octane because he had it delivered by accident. I've never fiddled with air screws or pilot jets and am not sure if they could be a culprit.

Joel, I think you're on the right track with you idea of changing the plugs first.

Do these two tons happen to have a different color carb springs on the slides?

I still have a very slight burble in the midrange too but it's ever so slight and not a problem at all.

Perhaps one of the carb covers is warped?

Maybe the small ball point pen looking spring is missing from one of the carbs?

I'd spray some carb cleaner directly into the carbs and run some Seafoam in the gas to clean out the small carb oriffices.

If all else fails. Have the guys take their sandwiches out of their breadboxes! LaLaLa

I would richen the needle a notch and see if that gets rid of it. I had to do that on mine. with ECP w evac and Max Perf Exhaust.

After replacing the plugs and adding SeaFoam. We opened the far right carb and the plug had come unsnapped so the needle was stuck all the way up and the small spring was laying ontop of the diaphram. Put it back together (right) and she ran like a top.

That's great to hear!

Yup, I swear if the plastic tops of the needle holders aren't pushed into their keeper just right, they can come lose. It's tough to know if they are in just right by feel since I usually put them in with a needle nose.
