went out riding for a bit just lately and the machine was running perfect, the idle/slack in the cable-throttle were set fine and it the tors never came on since i cleaned the carbs over a month ago all of a sudden it kicked in, i tried to give it slack testing it until i had no more slack to give at the idle screw/nut and it still kicks in, backfires. unplug the connectors and plug them into themselves it runs fine no problems, any1 have any ideas as what could be setting this off?
Clean your tors switch or replace it. There is a post here on how to clean your tors switch you will have to search for it.
Found it here is the link.

thanks alot for digging around for it, i was in the process of going through the tech and electrical forums to see where it could be hiding, hopefully it just needs cleaning and i dont have to wait for a part on order as were supposed to have nice weather here on tuesday and i wanna put some miles on now that my clutching is done. thanks again for finding it

Well, i took the t.o.r.s. switch off the sled and took it apart, and it looks completly spotless,i still gave it a thorough cleaning and put it back together and made sure my idle/slack was good and it still activates the sensor, nothing looks wrong with the switch it compresses and releases with the normal amount of springage, looks like new inside, connectors are all clean and shiny, what about where it runs to from the connectors along the frame and inside some plastic housing, could something be wrong in there where it runs from the connectors?to me the switching looks like new unless something is wrong with the wires but i cant seem to find any problems with the wiring/ or should i just get a new one and see if this fixes it? was hoping the cleaning method was the problem as they are like 200 from the dealership for a switch.
bypass it, runs great, hook it back up, activated does this more than likey mean the switch is gone somewhere in it since i plug the 2 connector wires that run from the frame in eachother and it runs fine?
do these machines have only one tors switch? its a 04 and i only see the one on the throttle body

Maybe try to lubricate the throttle cables do you have the service manual what does it say?

i have a cd that came with the machine when i bought it, ive been looking through it to find anything on it still, would a indicator that when you plug the conectors together that go along the inside of the chassis by/under the airbox it runs fine so it must be on the switch side, ill try lube it up,i wondered if something in my tension settings was off but ive never had a problem with it before, maybe a wire connecting into the switch box itself something hapened to it but everything seems fine, ill try resetting it and lubing things.
Edit- i keep seeing a Tps also in threads do the 04s have this? the one i been trying to adjust is the carb switch one.

The other TORS switch is in the Throttle flipper block but I 'think' the bypass wouldn't work if it was that switch. Did you check the switch electrically for function? open one way, closed the other?

check that switch with a ohm meter it sound like it is not makeing & breaking properly , just because it is clean dosen,t mean it is good.
