mobil one synthetic- pack bearings?? First day here, wuhoo!!

Hello everyone, this is my first day with your website & this is the first Yammi I have ever owned as well!
I have owned eight previous Poo's & after my last one blew up again at 15,000 miles, I decided to try a sled that has proven itself reliable! These sleds apparently are meant for high miles! (except the skid & hyfax though).
Just picked up a 2007 Apex rtx with 2000 miles, it's in immaculate shape & thats the way I will keep e'r! lol. Thus far I have changed the oil & filter (lotsa fun! lol), I am in the process of changing the hyfax & all the wheels which don't have replaceable bearings (the four middle lower ones as well as the two outside rear ones) & I have changed the bearings on the other three that can be changed. I have also changed the speedo drive bearing as it was ok but figured what the heck, I was in there anyway!
Anywho, I want to clean & repact the jackshaft bearing & was wondering if the grease I have which is a low temp (-35f), water repelling, full synthetic white grease (mobil one) would that be ok for the bearing & everything else, or do you recommend something else?

I think you will find this site to be a great source for giving you ideas and helping you maintain and "freshen" up your Yamaha Apex. Mine started out as a stock 07 Attak GT a few years ago, which was a nice sled, but since then she's a whole new beast with the changes this site has taught me to do. The sky is truly the limit.

In terms of the grease your contemplating, I'd think that would be perfect. I also use a fully synthetic low temp grease -- something that will still allow parts to move at below zero temps. I'm an Amsoil guy myself, so I use the blue Amsoil grease. But there's nothing wrong with Mobil 1.

No no no, not Doo, Poo!! lol
My last sled was a 2002 polaris xc 700, hahaha!
Twas a good sled just couldn't get her past the 8000 mile mark without the PTO bearing going down for the count! Rebuilt it from top to bottom twice before I decided enough was enough!

I concur, I think I will be very happy with this site because there appears to be a lot of knowledgeable sledders here to which will come in handy as this sled is a totally different ballgame to me!! As I learn more about this sled, I will be more than happy to help out others as well!

I used the MOBIL 1 synthetic grease, not sure but I think it was -4 or -10, got it at autozone for 8.99. Used it for speedo bearing and secondary shaft bearing. Worked great wish there were more bearings to grease LOL

Ranger,you are going to love being off those handgrenades they call snowmobiles! Have converted several Polariphiles to yammi fourstroke fun in recent years.

You are absolutely correct, I will & have already learned so much about these awesome sleds just by reading all the forums ( my brain is getting packed with knowledge!)!!!!! Pretty soon I hope to be a Yammi guru myself,lol!! After a little more Apex experience, I will be happy to share my knowledge as well, lol !!
