Riding in Quebec last weekend and my Tach was so frosted (inside) that I could not read it and the LCD display got scrambled and could not be read. The temp was only about zero F. Everything workend fine when I got home and it was 30 degrees. I finally got it in the heated garage today and there was a ton of condensation on the inside of the tach and the LCD display. I took the pod apart and seperated the gauges and let them dry out real good. The rubber boot in the back of the gauge was not installed properly. So my question is .......how do I keep this from happening again or will it be OK now that the rubber boot is installed correctly. Thank you

If the rubber boot was not installed correctly it would seem logical that it could have been the reason for your problem.

I had my gauge pod apart already in the one month since I bought my sled because of a small piece of plastic that was stuck to the inside of the lens from day one that the dealer thought was no big deal.

I'm pretty sure that I put it back together properly but now you have me second guessing myself!

In any case I guess that the only way for you to know for sure is to just wait and see if the problem returns now that you have the seal installed correctly.

When you take it apart, you may not want to not wipe the inside of the lens. It has a coating to prevent fogging. Also, you may want to consider sticking it in an oven (put it on really low and keep the door partially open) to dry it out. I have even sealed it back up in there because the humidifier works really good here. But, even then, after a good run in the powder all day, you still may get it fogged up. I just usually leave it, and it clears by itself after an hour or so. But when the gage starts to whacky, then you benefit from drying it out. The boot was an ’05 mod. Older sleds benefit from the boot. If you are wondering how the moisture gets in there even with the boot on, there are some really tiny holes in my case. Over the summer, it just gets in there.
