06 Apex ER 2000 miles. Snowmobiling in Quebec this weekend and it was pretty cold but not extreme. -2 F. My LCD Display that shows the fuel, hand warmers, clock and milage got all messed up for no reason. It is mixed up and un readable. Any ideas on this and how I can fix it without a new gauge pod? I thought It might be the cold weather but it is a snowmobile and -2 F is not extreme cold for a snowmobile. Thank you

Usually, when an LCD get cold-damaged it goes completely black. If your display is messed-up characters instead, it's more likely electronic, either in the display panel or in the controller. My guess, you're looking at a whole new display.

No problems with my displays. If your out of warrenty it sounds like you have nothing to loose so take it apart. Going by memory I would take off the shield and black plastic surround. Unplug the connector behind the display and make sure there is no moisture in the connection. Try scuffing up the connector points and plug it back in. I've read of a view related problems on this site about the display not being plugged in properly, mostly concerning the rubber seal around the connector not sealing properly (moisture). The disply is a dealer installed item. If that doesn't work unmount the display and take the small screws out from behind the display and let it air out real good. Maybe that will help.

It is partially black but not completly black. It actually kept changing. I can read it but not very well. I will try to get it apart and let it dry out.
The Tach was so frosted i could not read it and the speedo and odometer worked fine.

If your tach was frosted (on the inside, I am assuming) it means you may have had some moisture inside the gauge display. Try taking the gauge off the sled and take it apart (if you are able) and dry it out with a blowdryer. When you reassemble, try putting a bead of silicone around the housing. And like the other guy said, make sure there is no water inside the plastic molex connector on the back side. Good luck!

Every once in a while, when it is bitter cold out, the same thing happens to the display on the radio inside my vehicle.

I notice with a windsheild bag that they tend to condensate more...do you have 1 ?

I do have a windshield bag. I went out tonight to take it out of the trailer and bring it in the garage to take it apart and let it dry out and it was fine. Must have moisture in the conector or display but I am glad it is ok now..

Congradulations, sounds like you had a bit of luck on your side. I would still take it apart and let it dry out. If you do this pay special attention to the rubber boot in the back of the diplay. The outer edge of the rubber boot should be tight against the back of the display. I'm courious if the dealer installed it correctly. You probably have moisture finding its way in through there. With 2000 miles I would have thought it would have happened sooner. Did you just purchase the window bag?

I noticed moisture in mine when it was cold out last trip out..Is this normal? I would think it is condensation. Since I have'nt been out in the rain or had it covered in snow. I garage it between trips.
