Does yamaha offer a "big boy" kit for the mono? I am pushing the higher end of the weight settings stock (thanks everyone who helped me out). I just know will want stiffer than 7 on the adjuster.
Wondered if Yammy has another spring avail.

Are the springs for the Mono RA, or the ProAction skid?

I believe that the position of the ramped collar can be adjusted via a snap ring. So if you are on the hardest setting (on the ramps), get your dealer to pull off the spring and put the ramp in a tighter position. It may save you some money.

Did I read that right? If the ramps are in the tightest position put them in a tighter position?
And why get a dealer to do that?

The actual ramp itself can be put into three different positions from what I am told. You need the dealer to remove and replace the spring unless you have the tools.
I am not referring to simply turning the ramped collar, I am talking about sliding the whole adjuster assembly up or down the shock body.
Can someone with an 05 RX-1 see if there is a mention of this in the owner's manual? If it is true, there should be lots of adjustment there for almost anyone.

I 2nd that you can take the cam and have it moved stiffer with the snap ring and then fine tune it with the cam adjuster but I think I have some info on another spring that is available....I will check and get back to you...

I looked at it 3 times over. I will probably drop the shock and inspect further.

if you drop the skid be vary carful and take your remote adjuster all the way to the hard setting before you take it out, to assure you get the adjuster back in the right position when you reinstall. If you dont you take the risk of stripping out the remote gear reduction in the adjuster.

no, either way so you make sure nothing gets moved and it will be back at its normal position.

I dropped my shock out (real easy job) and I see a C clip tucked in behind the cam adjuster, you just cant see it without taking it out of the sled. Now I am sure that it can be changed, I will just try it. If it is not stiff enough, I have access to a strut compressor, and will change it.
One note, I noticed the clicker adjuster has the "clicks" in the adjuster, not in the shock. Bascially, if you drop the shock, make sure you dont turn the adjuster or the adjuster on the shock. Get it one click off, who knows what will happen LOL

This is info from my Tech Book:
Mono shock springs available through Yamaha:
Softer: 8fu-47489-20-00
Stock: 8fu-47489-00-00
Harder: 8fu-47489-10-00
To Remove Mono Shock:
Set shock to stiffest setting (hard)
disconnect cable from adjuster
remove 3 bolts that holds adjuster on
disconnect weight transfer rod (this will also help with reinstalling skid)
Remove the rest of the bolts and pull skid out.
Thought this might help.

Hi Tom, Do you have the Lit # for that tech manual? Is it just a supplement for the 05 or does it cover the whole sled? I would like to get one of those on order. thanks Dave
