Broke monoshock cable last season on a 08 APEX LTX . This was number 2 and not wasting any more $ on something that will probably break again. I pulled the cable and removed the boot to minimize ice build-up. I remember seeing a post and a couple of members saying there was a small allen or screwdriver that would fit into the shock end where the cable attached. They used that instead of replacing the cable. Anyone have suggestion as to what might work.
 
I use a small pocket scewdriver, works fine. I thaw our sleds out after each ride so will have to check if I can even see the shock fitting when full of ice.
I removed the whole RA assembly and blanked the hole.
 
Interesting. I didn't know this could be done. I just spent $79 today on a new cable that was ripped off when my track blew out. I would have been happy to leave it where it is and gone without the adjustment. Is it a flathead or Phillips that can be used to adjust the shock?
 
Royal has a cable assembly in the catalog that most Canadians would like, due to the price......

Kimpex is also making a replacement cable and that comes with the rubber seal too. I do not know the part number but it shouldnt be too hard to find. I would bet that it is the one that Royal is selling.
 
1/8 allen wrench ground to square shape works perfect. clockwise is full hard. No need to replace the cable to see it break again.
 
The Robertson #6 is probably the correct size, but I did not have one . Searching for a quick fix found that a short #0 Philips head works qiuite well. Able to turn either right or left; even hear the clicks. Added a plastic electric butt connector to keep ice out of the whole. No more replacing broken cables and I can still adjust when I want to.
 
I recently found that my cable was broken/busted (probably due to ice build-up as well). Currently on the fence as to whether or not I'll replace it now that I've read this. Thanks for the info, folks...awesome!
 
mine busted too! I removed cable from the dial, how can you remove it from the shock? Maybe it's easy and I just cant see it very well as some snow and ice remain!
 
I replaced mine 2 years ago but since my revalve from Pioneer is so awesome I do not adjust it any longer. So if it breaks again it will just stay broken.
