Just planning our trip for next week. Wondering if anybody has any reports from the Lac Saint Jean area and maybe specifically the Mont Valin trails. I've riden to Lac Saint Jean several times. I've either headed north-west out of there to Chibougamau or headed south-east down to Quebec. The Mont Valin area is something I haven't riden yet. I'll most likely be heading through La Tuque if anybody wants to comment on that area.

Thanks

Mont Valin-Lac Saint Jean conditions

All I can say is if you never went over the mountain, you don't know what your missing. The ride is phenomenal! There is a ton of snow up there. There are some nice loops in there, also. We usually start from LaTuque and go thru Relay 22 into Roberval. From there just head N.W. and around. There is a ferry crossing at Tadoussac where you could head to St. Raymond then back to LaTuque. The only part you might have to worry about going this route is when you go right through Quebec City, it tends to be beat up a little. This area this year was the first to open up and stay good, as usual. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies. I did find the hardcoresledder website yesterday, which was a bonus.

Bleedin,

When are you actually going up? I have a trip tentatively planned for next week. Leave St. Raymond around 11am Thurs 15th, ride to Holiday Inn in Jonquirre thru L'ETape. Friday ride Mt. Valins area. Saturday return to St. Raymond. We might stay an extra day and instead of Mt. Valins, ride to and stay over in Chibigamu.

We are leaving this saturday the 10th and are driving into the St.Donat area. We are still hammering out our six days of riding and where we'll go. I usually love riding up into LaTuque and onto Lac Saint Jean, but am not too enthused about the problems heading up through there. We'll most likely stay at the HI in Jonquiere at some point. There's 3 of us and 2 will be on 05 RX1's. Mine is blue while my buddies is a LE flat black.

If you travel from St. Raymond to Jonquiere, do you take trail 23? If so, how many miles is the ride that day? I was just looking at the map and that may be the way for us to get up there. Where do you stay in St. Raymond?

200 miles St. Raymond to Jonquiere on TQ23. If groomed, my favorite trail anywhere and it will only take 6 hours. When I stay there, I stay at Hotel Roquemont, convenient, restaurant and bar, fairly secure. I have a place in northern VT and we trailer early morning to St. Raymond and start riding from there. But there was some talk today about trailering right to Jonquiere. Will look for you at the HI, will be there Thursday and Friday nights, I have a red RS Venture and I'm riding with Doos and Poos.

Have a great ride.
