I have recently purchased my first Yamaha snowmobile. 2007 Apex MT SE. After putting 500 miles on the sled I had a MC Express turbo kit professionally installed. I have ridden the turbo sled now 450 miles. On my last ride the sled went dead while crossing a field in medium snow with throttle pined. (Shut off like kill switch was pushed). I turned key off, pushed kill switch in, turned all back on and cranked sled. Some wispy white smoke came out of the exhaust. Did not have oil smell. Don't think it was anti-freeze. Sled eventually started. Ran great for 3 miles and stopped again. This happened 4 times and then would not start at all. Towed to friends house. Came back 4 days later and sled started like nothing had ever happened. Dealer has looked at the sled and can not find anything wrong. I am tying to get back out to see how sled runs soon. Scared to go far from truck. Need help.

The white smoke could have been fuel that was not burned, if the spark was cut off. Have you tried by-bassing the kill switch? You may also want to check the connections to the key switch. Then you are down to checking all the electrical connections. If you get to this point, you may want to start by looking at the wires that could have been disturbed by the mod. Also you may want to check the ECU connections and wiring to ensure the wires are not shorting through the insulation to the frame. In general, it seems like you are dealing with a loose electical connection from the power source to the ECU. Oh, you may want to electrically check the fuses to insure they are not intermittant.

Len,

Thanks for all the good information. I will continue looking and ride the sled once more snow falls in the high country.
