I have a Nytro XTX and put Yami MTX skis on. I am offsetting the bushings to get a 42.5 inch ski stance. Has anyone tried this on a Nytro? I do worry about more stress on the spindles, but I think the extra stability would be nice. Any thoughts/experience?

Thanks

I think if that little change is going to cause to much stress to the spindles then they were made to weak to begin with. YOu should be fine.

I was thinking of doing the same thing on my XTX. Is there any reason that the spindle has to be centered over the ski as it is stock? Does off setting this little bit affect the way the ski or carbide might work?

I widened my front end via the bushings last year and ran it for over 3000 miles. Yes, they do put more stress on the inner spindle bushings and yes, mine were a little sloppy. I've since replaced spindles, so I should be good for another year.

I noticed that when playing in 2-3 feet of powder, it was more difficult to get the sled on its side when carving due to the wider stance. Trail manners were greatly improved (less inside ski lift).

The stock bushings allow for an offset of 1 1/4". I'm going for a 1" offset this year via some homemade oilite bushings. We shall see.

I have MTX skis on my RTX, They are absolutely awesome off tail and great on lose trails. only downside is heavy steering. Make sure to flip the rubbers 180 degrees and do the upper balljoint mod.
Mine are mounted as stock not offseted.

I tried some 7" wide VK Professional skis on my Nytro last season and mounted them in the stock setting. They worked great for floating the front end in unpacked snow but I didn't care for them on the trails. They tended to make the sled high side suddenly and just didn't feel predictable in the corners. Aside from a wider nose, I believe they are the same, or very similar to the mountain skis.

I was thinkin of doin this exact same thing to my X-TX! Most people keep saying that these stock skis are no good! I have a mind to try the stock skis first and see what I think but I would also like to change them just to get rid of the black ski and add some color!! Got a price quote on a set of Slydog trail skis that measure 6" wide as compared to the 5" wide stocker! Anyone know how wide the MTX ski is? Is it 7" or no?

MTX ski is 7" wide. Just put a set of blue MTX skis on mine. I guess we'll see how they are.

That's what I wanted!! A set of blue MTX skis with a white loop!! Can't find the white loop on the Yamaha accessory page!! Do they not make a white loop?

No white loops from yammie. I have heard that a ski doo loop will bolt on.

got some mtns on my xtx as well, there isnt much that will beat the float of the these skis. Im sure they can be tuned to work well in most conditions. we shall see
