He might have tried an old RX1, they had "lag".
Nytro MCX180 on the other hand don't know what "lag" is, and he is the first person in the whole world i have ever heard suggesting it, so my guess is that he was comparing apples and pears.
MPI180 was released in mid season if my memory serves me right, and it might have been because Push had trouble to deliver (and perform) kit's to the customers who ordered them thru Yamaha, that made MPI start making turbo kit's.
To me a bit surprising in any case, because my perception is that MPI believes that Superchargers outperforms Turbo's, so why start selling something that they say is not any good?

They came out to canadian/yamaha dealers earlier in the year last year.
I don't think mpi has a perception that superchargers are better.Matt said last winter they both have there place and on a long climb the turbo out performs the supercharger but tree riding and boondocking the supercharger out performs the turbo.Matt had a turbo on his sled lst year.

I think they do, or did before they started to sell turbo's themselves, you only have to read their ad's, or some of the forum post's, from "time before" their turbo.
Also, what's the reason they waited so long before they released a Turbo kit?
And the reason why he runs one himself maybe only he can answer, but one good reason might be he need's to drive one for development, and development never ends as we all know, so it's a good thing he drives one, and why wouldn't he run one? Nothing beats a Turbo
.
Our guessing does not help ndnytro's question much, to bad no one owning one have posted actual real world facts, a full season of driving reveals a kit's weaknesses and strengths!

Yeah, the old RX1s had lag. But the way he replied it sounds like he had ridden several 180 mcx nytros.. I don't know.. The only thing i know is that there is no lag..

ive got about 600 miles on my mpi turbo. ran great. super easy install. put it on with mostly just pictures from them. turbo lag was minimal and it ran great from 1500ft to 12000 ft. im not impressed with the gems fuel controller at all. a manual boost controller is in the works too. only trouble i had is during the install the oil preasure fitting was not with the kit and had to wait for one. be very carefull when putting it in cause it looks like it would twist off easy. also i did have some trouble with the filter icing up in certain conditions. all in all i think it is a great kit. fit and finish was top notch. i dont know how the install could get any easier. i know my xtx would stand on the tail light on command and who doesnt love that turbo whislte!

If the MPI is a rear mount like the MCX, you would definately have to use a snorkel kit to get rid of the icing issues.

yeah i see that now. i was hoping that with the under tunnel exhaust that the icing would be kept to a minimum. it wasnt terrible but it did effect performance. with the prefilter it was easy to just brush the ice and snow off. service sells and both darren and matt at mpi were very help full and set me up with exactly what it need.

Yeah i guess the under tunnel exhaust will help out a lot.
I lost pressure as soon as the temps went below -10c cause the prefilter iced up.
Never had any issues after installing the snorkel kit

thanks for the tip. what did you use for the snorkle? what elevations do you ride at? im just curious cause i have trouble with the gems. im thinking mpi's standalone fuel injection but dont need the big injectors. i was hoping to save that money for skins new A-arms. im waiting to see what people think of them when more people ride em.

MCXpress offers a snorkel kit for their turbo kits. Its basically just a 90 degree hose which relocate the filter out and away from the exhaust.
I ride at about 1500 meters most of the time.
I'm waiting my Skinz front end kit any day now.. Cant wait to get it installed.

Snorkel kits can be made from radiator hose that you can buy at any auto parts store too.

Thank you, for your understanding and kindness.... I don't own one, I have or had 09 Apex MTX with a Mcx 290 kit on, in the process of building a Nypex rite now. That was just my own opinion, didn't mean to get every buddy all wound up, I think Mcx makes a real good kit, but the one I tried had lag, on that note the 2 MPI that I have tried where prototype, the dealer or person that had them was doing a bit of R&D, he had them dial in pretty good....
