How many folks have added this to their turbo vipers? I'm low elevation (1000' +\-) and have my gems controller maxed out and just squeaking out 5 pounds of boost while still pulling safe afr's, I have a thicker head gasket and head studs installed, looking to run around 8 pounds of boost on pump gas. Not interested in the 4th injector as I don't want to do the extra gems controller, just want to pull some more power out of this setup now that the engine will hold the boost a little better. Will the fuel pump kit get me there? Also what type of time frame we lookin at for installation and does this have any affect at all on fueling at idle or low speeds or on a launch?

You'll have no problems up to 9 lbs, which is where I would set it with your low compression pistons. You may have to lean out the fuel controller down low (I'd have to look at my notes and GEMS settings from the two I've done that way). You will have no issues with idle quality.

Thanks Allen, so even pump fuel at 9 pounds would be same? I'm not running a head shim, just a thicker gasket.

How thick of a head gasket are you running?

I do not have any fuel pump kits. Give Matt @ MPI a call and I'm sure he'll get one going to you. Tell me your gasket thickness and I can give you a boost # for pump gas.

I'm just judging this on my sled, can't speak for other guys, but I have my gems controller maxed out just to run 4.5-5 pounds of boost and keep afr's around 11, and that's on a stage 1 kit with an innercooler. I know I've talked with other guys who are running that much or more boost and stock fueling is fine. If you want to run higher boost and pump fuel I think you without a doubt need to do the bigger fuel pump. My engine was put together with a thicker head gasket and head studs to also be safer at higher boost numbers..but like I said, that doesn't really matter cuz for my sled, stock fueling is maxed out at 5 pounds. I got the kit coming from mpi and I think I'll be able to have it put in this week. Other guys say bigger injectors are the way to go, it all depends on how you can tune the fuel, bigger injectors on an mpi kit with the gems controller wouldn't work cuz they'd be way too rich down low and prolly run lean on top, if you have a power commander where you can really fine tune the fueling than bigger injectors may likely help, that's how the hurricane kit is setup and a lot of guys like that. I'll give a better review once it's installed and I start to turn it up a little more but I really think it'd be a great upgrade for guys looking for a bit more than the basic kits.

Got a few hundred miles on mine since I put the fuel pump upgrade kit in, it's working just as described. My boost was set at 4.5 pounds and right away I knew I needed to lean the fuel out, before the fuel pump I had my gems controller maxed out just to have enough fuel to run 4.5 pounds. Once I got fuel closer at 4.5 pounds I turned the boost up to 6 pounds and didn't have to make any other adjustments and it pulled 10.5-10.8 on the afr gauge for as long as I wanted to hold it, and that was with more adjustment left on the gems controller, so it does as described, as more boost is made there is also more fuel pressure feeding it. Just gave the wastegate another turn and a half, should be running right around 7 pounds and added a bit of primary weight, will be out again on it this week so will get a better idea of how it does but so far I'm pleased with the results, because it boost pressure regulated I found I was able to not have to run the gems controller adjust so rich which in turn made the sled feel much more lively when I would hit wot quickly. 200 miles over the weekend and most every long stretch I was running it to 100+ mph and it pulled 12-13 mpg so I felt good about that considering there was a lot of wot runs.
