I have installed 2 mpi apex kits in the last month , both using Teds bov ,
Use stock setting on the bov, hook the controller hose to the intercooler ,
Use Ulmers fuel settings from their web site ,
Go ride and enjoy ! They both run Great !!!!!

MPI troubles
I just took it out for a short ride and the surging is gone. All I did was put back the stock fuel pump. Maybe I had the MSD pump mounted too high as MSD says it's to be lower than the tank. I still have a lean condition but it's under boost now, I may be able to tune this out I hope. I checked my peak boost on my Autometer gauge and it showed I got 11 psi so I will change my 26/24 pulleys to 24/24.

MPI troubles
I put the stock pump back and the surging dissapeared but now I have a lean conditon under boost at 10 psi. Some how I need to use the MSD pump with the stock pump I believe. I hear if I use the MSD and the stock pump together I will get a rich mixture all the time.

Apex man I feel your pain I am just a few steps ahead of you so I will share what I have Found . First I would put your stock pump back in the tank and use it. I f you are running a stage 2 kit put the secondary pump on a 8-10 lb. hob switch When plumbing the second pump you have to configure it so the stock pump bypasses the secondary .Fuel will not flow through the MSD pumps. Hammer had some info on this as well.Second the fuel controllers are set to see a .5 pound of boost so it will sense boost just off of idle. I run 2 vortech valves and one modified mitsu blow off valve. With one valve there was still quite a surge when the throttle closed quickly. 3rd is I have several fuel controllers 3 from MPI all of wich have different settings from Mac. THe best controller we have from mac is the version before the current one now. It has the old label on it. This controller seems to be the best for higher boost levels at lower engine speeds . That is the jist of this thing clutching plays a big role in these chargers unbeleivable effect on drivability and boost behavior to fuel consumption. Currently I am running 14-15lbs on pump gas with a 60 shim .It pulls great but fuel consumption has been a problem . I finally have things coming to me now. I have it clutched that under light throttle cruising my rpms are really low thus boost is low fuel consumption is down. Another thing I found is the Powder Lites fuel controller worked great on this thing. Fuel mileage was really good and it pulled hard. Dave sets his box up that the boost sensor doesnt add any fuel till it sees 2lbs wich I feel is better for cruising. One other thing when cruising under light throttle it is normal to see the green- blue light up even when the boost guage is reading a vacum. The intercooler is still seeing at least .5 of a pound of boost compared to the throttle bodies there is where the powder Lites controller may be a bit better for cruising or have the MPI box recalibrated. Hope this helps I will share as I go along.
