Is this a good thing for trail riders? I am a speed demon and love the accelration. I rode 2 TURBOs before and was hooked! I looked into a turbo but thought it might require too much tinkering to get it set up right. I live NOWHERE near snow. We drive 5-7 hours to get to it so "tuning" is not my thing.

We would ride about 4000 miles per season typically doing 250-300 mile days. I am wondering if th SC is a better choice. I have read a bunch about them and the install and configuration seems much more easy than a Turbo.

Questions:

Why do they say that you don't need to clutch your sled as much as you do with a Turbo?

What is a reccomended setup for trail riding?

Pump Gas OK? 87,89 or Super?

What HP #'s could I expect from a SC in trail form?

Any kinks that still need to be worked out or are they all ready to go?

Is MPI the only ones doing this right now? Anyone else?

Are the SC's only for EFI's or can I put one on my 2005 RX1?

I'll take a stab at this....The S/C is easier to install than a turbo..no mods to the frame or exhaust, a self contained oil system for starters. You will need to add some weight and a spring to the primary. The coment about being easier to clutch I can't explain except to say that with a large HP and torque curve you just need to keep the RPMs off the rev limiter (a little on the low side for trail riding would be my first choice). The price for the 05 RX-1 S/C is $500 less than a Apex AND they are avaiable...You'll also be running 7 to 8 pounds of boost (about 200 hp) so you'll want to run a min 93 octane fuel. Stick with a system that keeps the stock exhaust (you don't want any tickets). Finally a experianced installer is worth the effort if YOU don't want to be doing any tuning out of the box. Remember 80% throttle WILL last allot longer than constant 100% ;)! ;)!
