Funny how I hear people bash about toys they don't have! Then they decide to buy one and your don't hear from them anymore. One acquaintance I have would do nothing but complain about PWC's then he bought one of my old ones and you don't hear a peep from him!
I have snowmobiles, a PWC and a quad and 60mph on a PWC is no different than above the c-note on a snowmobile. Once you've mastered handling them, it doesn't feel that fast. Don't get me wrong, yes for the one's that don't know how to handle them or when to cut back on their speed, it is dangerous.
Now a quad is a different story, those are pretty scary, especially in some of the terrain that they are driven in, mine will do about 50mph and I don't hit that very often and I know there are some out there that will do much faster than that.
Some areas are just to crowded to go those speeds and people just have to use common sense.

hlmrx1: I had one and I respected boaters and I kept my distance from them. I'm not saying all jet skiers are bad. However I see way to many kids that have no buisness on these things breaking laws and causing issues.
There is a huge difference in a 100 on a sled and 60 on a jet ski. It's called brakes. Plus sleds don't share trails with other motorizied units.
No one wants to hear bad things about there sport. I hate hearing about trails closing because people don't respect peoples property when they are sledding. The fact is it's a problem and people are out there screwing it up for the rest of us. The same goes for jet skiers. You have your good and you have your bad.

Jason, I know what you mean but I feel the same way when some dipshit comes whipping around the corner hogging the entire trail and I see my life pass by.....I feel rage
. At least the PWC guys I can just run over...lol

Jtssrx, your absolutely right, but most people assume that if one is bad they are all bad, just like bikers. I guess up here some of our waterways have plenty of room and lots of stopping distance, although I see some abusers fooling around right in front of a cottage at the shoreline and yes that’s dangerous and they should know better. That’s the one’s that give us a bad name, but people shouldn’t place everyone in the same category, and I’m happy to hear that you don’t. Some boat can do close to the c-note and they don’t have brakes either!
I do disagree with you on the sleds sharing trails with other motorized units as they have to share with each other and I have had on occasion some a$$ (plural) that I’ve met around a corner which doesn’t slow down and gives you very little space. Let’s agree to disagree on that one, lol.
And yes there will always be the good and the bad.
Take care!

Jeesh, all I wanted to do with this post was to provide information on alternative charging solutions for the RX-1, LOL.

hlmrx1: Oh ya there are AZZHOLES every where. Last winter on the TY ride in Muni NOSPRO and I were headed back to Muni from Grand Marias and we Had 6 guys that were passing us on blind Icey corners at 85 plus mph. The people comming the the other way were consistanly comming on our side of the trail because the corners were solid ice. We slowed down do to the condtion but these six guys weren't waiting. I was so pissed. I pulled to the side and gave them the Finger as they passed.
I have an '02 Sea-Doo RX it will consistantly do 68mph
, that feels about right. but a little faster is soooooo tempting. With Sea-Doo releasing my hull with the 215hp
motor this year it is so tempting to trade up. But the new Harley prohibits any boat trading this year

Dude, thats not so funny when you're the one being run over. I was on a jetski and got run over... by another jetski... that was going ~20. Definitely not my fault since I was at dead stop (recovering from a wipeout - superjet). Good thing that superjet is built like a tank, got by with only a 2 foot long scratch up the side of the cover and I drove it home (actually used it to haul the other machine in to shore), the other machine SANK (at least as far as it can go until the styrofoam holds it up). Fortunately, nobody was injured.

One of the major gripes I have with Jet Skiers is that they tend to stay in one area playing for an extended amount of time. Sledders don't do this typically. The drone of the Jet Ski gets REALLY old when they just stay in a small area doing circles and spinning.

I suppose if they were spinning and going in circles near shore, I can understand that point. However, if they are not what would be the alternative, them spinning and going in circles ALL over the lake.

In my experience ATV drivers, and PWC drivers are very irresponsible, compared to sledders. They are show offs, and get close to others to make sure they are seen. Something like the guys with the skis in the air in the bar parking lot. I blame it on insecurety. That being said, I don't think we should condemn a whole sport, because of the idiots. That's what law enforcement is for.
Jt, BRAKES???? I would like to see you stop at 100 mph. I'm not an expert on PWC but I think they can stop in a shorter distance from 60, than a snowmobile, on a hard pack, from 100. I know a boat stops pretty quick when you cut the power. As far as other type vehicles on the trails. What difference does it make whether you hit an ATV, or a family on sleds, that you hit as you are sliding sideways around a blind corner.

I personelly do not have an ax to grind but we throw bumpers in the lake off Dukesters peir for exersize for his dogs. PWC are suposed to stay 200 feet from piers. Riders see the dogs swimming to and from the shore and for some reason have to drive between the shore and the dogs over and over again.
We had the area marked with swimmer bouys and they still keep driving near the dogs at a high rate of speed. It seems that the dogs are a magnet to the PWC's. Finally we started taking video and gave them to the lake patrol. Several guys got tickets which only made the problem worse. The only way to stop the problem is to park boats in the path the dogs swin in.

Power Can Also Be Used To Pull Not just Go Fast
You All miss the Real answer Power is Often to pull Like a Skier Wake Boarder Tube are A Barge what ever you want
I enen on My snowmobile migrated to for stroke not for speed but Torque
I Pull stuff and Haul a lot of Gear that is two heavy for a gutless motoer on a Hill or in deep snow.
I need that power At Low revs as well as High At this A four stroke Rocks
It is pretty easy to PUTT into place with a load with the rx (barring Getting Stuck Sinking in) A two stroke for me had 2 speeds Stop And GO
Not a lot of low end speed control comparably
Regardless If I had A Boat It is to me like a Truck I preferr A diesel with hop up power in a truck and in a boat I would Want TOW Power as Well
(Perhaps they should Make some Deisel personal watercraft eh?)
