mtx for trail riding?

I just bought a 2010 mtx 153, was starting to think this might not be the best choice for me .I do about 80/20 trail off trail riding..what do you fellas think? My track is 2.25 " lugs

It can be done just a little more work on the trail to ride. If u do alot of trail riding your lugs will bend over.

Can i cut them down to 1.5 or so..and what would be the best way to cut them uniform.

I have used a hot knife and a template to cut lugs makes easy work of it. You have to remember ur gearing and clutches may need to be changed and with the shorter arms it will be tipper on trail. But I have rode a MTX Apex for 7300 miles 50/50 you just learn how to do it.

I've cut many tracks down with a steel bar & sawz all. Works great & extremely easy. I have an 2011 mtx & its fine on the trail but you can't ride it like a 121" thou. You need to its trail manors & need to ride it acordingly. Once you hit the off trail / deep stuff is were it will be a blast until you have to dig it out. LOL all part of the fun.
