Hoping someone can help me out here, I bought this 2008 Nytro in 2021. I didn’t know anything about the Nytro at the time and still know very little. A lot of this information is hindsight now but he put FX10 MTX I believe on the bill of the sale and he made a point of saying it was a FX10 MTX, but it has XTX on the plastic side panels. I’ve searched the VIN number and it comes up as a few options but always MTX, never XTX. From doing some searching it appears to me that the XTX wasn’t produced in 2008? And looking at track size charts it lists 153” track for 2008 to 2010 MTX. Can anyone clear this up for me? What model do I have and what track length? I believe someone has fixed this up, probably from an accident and used the XTX side panels and that, my sled is an 08 MTX with 153” track

looking like a mtx to me but cannot zoom pic for better look. the body plastics are usually interchangeable between the mountain and trail sleds.

Track has part number molded into track. Rotate track around and look for part number then check track part number online and it will tell you size of track.

Ok, Thank you both , I will have a look for the part number in the track. I’ve also since posting found a video how to measure the track, so if I have trouble finding the part number I can try measuring it as well.

The track is a Camoplast Hi Performance trail part number 8ET-47110-30 which is a 144” track. Vindecoder2.com says my machine is a 2008 FX Nytro Mountain. Faxvin.com says my machine is a 2008 FX Nytro with trim and then it gives 3 options FX10MTRXL, FX10MTXL, FX10MTRAXW (40th anniversary) , my bill of sale says 2008fx10M, Snowmobile.com says that the 2008 MTX comes with a 153” track, and by the looks of it I have the anniversary edition, red, white and black. There doesn’t seem to be a 2008 with a 144” track, and when I put a 2008 Nytro MTX into the ride on partzilla it says it does not fit my machine. So I don’t know what I have, every vin decoder says I have a 2008 MTX but they come with a 153” track and I have a 144” track. Trying to find the engine serial number, I think it’s down around the oil filter, but haven’t found it yet.

an 09 model year will have an 08 production date and in 09 they did make the xtx and mtx but someone could have made an mtx into an xtx with driver/suspension and track swap.

For reference, this is what an '08 40th Anniversay Nytro looks like; they weren't just any red/white/black combo:

This has a 2007 production date, most of my information has came from the vin number located on the track. It’s my thinking that someone has made this MTX into an XTX but I don’t have enough knowledge to figure exactly what was changed and how they did it. I will come back to this thread when I get the time, I’ve seen some information about different shocks up front in different models as well was differences in the skid, different stances. I need to write this stuff down when I come across it, it really doesn’t matter to me at this point if it is a Frankenstein, I’ve owned it now since March 2022, it drives well and I really enjoy the machine, I’m basically just curious and also want to be sure I’m ordering the right parts when it comes to that, it’s my understanding that 2009 had some upgrades from 2008, ball joints I believe, geometry of the front end I believe?

I’m now leaning away from mine being a 40th anniversary edition, I don’t have the writing on the seat

am I correct in saying in 2008 they only produced the MtX with 153” track and the RTX with 121” track?

I found this interesting. I measured the ski stance, I may not have measured it in exactly the correct place as it’s difficult to tell exactly where you are supposed to be measuring from the manual. Anyways, I measured 42” . The specs from snowmobile.com says 08MTX has 38.6” stance and 09XTX as well as 08RTX has 41.3” stance. Looks like I may have an 09 or who knows what year XTX. I have XTX stance, track and side panels, the only thing I have MTX so far that I know of is a VIN number

Maybe a 2011, from what I’m reading 2011 was the first year for tipped up rails, I have the tipped up rails. 2011 model year came in red white and black or blue and white. Anyways, I better leave this alone for now and get some other work done lol.
