I need the hole to hole measurement for the 2011 MTX SE rear suspension mounting holes on the tunnel, or where I could find it. Thanks for any info.

Hey Guys:
My '11 153 MTX is 31.5" from front mount axle hole to rear upper drop bracket hole.
I'm pretty sure the 153 and 162 are the same.

Re: mtx skid mount
Good call wippster! Looks like we're working on the same project.

Wippster:
Here's the pic
My fingers are pointing to the XTX holes and the open hole you can see on the reinforcing plate is the stock MTX location. My reinforcing plate is different because I run the AC M skid and the stocker MTX. The MTX mounting holes should already be on your tunnel so use your triangle reinforcing plate to locate it.
Two other considerations before you get too far:
1) The forward tunnel reinforcing plates (inside) are different on the mtx vs xtx
2) The drop brackets are very different and use the rear xtx mounting hole and one further back. See picture below. My fingers are pointing to the xtx stock drop bracket holes and the bolts you see are for the MTX.
Both of these are easy to change with a bag of rivets, but they are a bit spendy from Yami to buy. Maybe try trolling the forums to see if anyone is parting with the plates and drop brackets and try to get them on the cheap.
Good luck.

I have the stock drop brackets laying around, but save yourself the time and effort and make your own. The stock ones even on the new style tunnel are still almost five pounds each. I used quarter inch aluminum that is 3.5"x9.5", then I used eighth inch to bend up a running board support and they weigh just a hair over a pound each and are monumentally stronger and stiffer.

OTM, you're the man! Thanks! I'm exploring the idea of just moving the front mount straight back and relocating the XTX drop brackets to keep the sled low for trail use. Thoughts?

OTM thanks much for the response, those are some sweet air boards!
1. So if replace the front inner reinforcement on the tunnel from current xtx to mtx i should have the hole location and strength completed. Looking on yammi website I can see that the xtx reinforcement does go as far back as the mtx does. I have attached a picture that shoes the size difference between the the 2 reinforcements mtx on the top and xtx is on the lower photo both are parts number 16/17
2. As for the rear pretty straight forward make some or purchase them

08-09 is part number 8ha-21943-00-00
10-12 is part number 8hr-21943-00-00

Wippster:
Warning: If you guys have XTX's only the 2010 and newer mtx reinforcing plates will fit. The 08-09 MTX had a different tunnel angle and aren't interchangeable. Use only the 8HR-21943-00 (left) and 8HR-21953-00 (right).
I am suprised on their delivery. I ordered these back in October, and they were stock Toronto??? I can't imagine that they are unavailable for 2 months. I can check my dealer to see if its the same story on this side of the border.
You can probably use your existing reinforcing brackets since you already know where the MTX hole is. If there is not enough material in the plate where the new hole goes, find someone with a TIG welder to add a patch. The plates are made of 1/8" steel, so its pretty easy to modify.
Huggermax is spot on regarding the drop brackets, they are pretty easy to fab too. I built mine with the same spec: 1/4" aluminum for the brackets and 1/8" for the section that attaches to the running board. Just find someone with a MTX drop bracket and copy it. Also, only 2010 and newer MTX drop bracket will work for the same reason above.

Gomer;
The MTX and XTX aren't really different in ride height, just longer so don't be worried about trail riding, they are fine but because they use a 2.25" paddle you either have to run in snow or use scratchers.
I am not exactly sure what you are getting at. The 153 and 162 MTX SE suspensions share mounting locations but are quite different than the Xtx, so if you are planning to swap an MTX suspension, you have to use the proper holes. If you are just planning on moving the xtx skid back, DON'T....you'll have to move it back like 5" to fit the 153 track, which is way too far IMO....you'll have a track stab problem, among others.
The other big consideration is track pitch, which again is different; MTX (3 inch pitch) and XTX (2.52" pitch), so putting a longer track requires new drivers unless you use a Hartman track extension kit, or find something longer in the 2.52 pitch.
Maybe shoot a few more details...

OTM thanks much for the information this information saves a ton of $$ compared learning the hard the way!!
Have look at the attached picture what do you mean use the triangle to locate the existing mtx hole? I don't see any thing to reference for the location of mtx hole location? At this point without the inner reinforcement plates or some actual measurements I'm stuck. Please advise.
I plan to run wahl 7 tooth 3.0 pitch drivers and thinking 18-40 gearing. planning to go to cooke city MT at 10,000 ft to giver a try in march
thanks wippster
