I just returned from a meeting in Munising, to talk about the potential closing of h13, and h58 in the Munising area, to snowmobile use.

There is another meeting at the Alger county road comission garage next Tuesday, at 3 PM.

The snowmobile club is asking for letters from snowmobilers to the road commision, as soon as possible.

Anyone riding in this area, knows how important these roads are to us, and the businesses.

If you can't make it to the meeting, write a letter. It would be important for you riders from out of Michigan, to emphasize the amount of money you spend here.

You have to be kidding Carson :!: How can they possibly think of doing that. Not only the impact on riding, but what about the scenery that draws everyone up there??? Hell...you go to pictured rocks and there's always people there. Great place to take a break.

Keep me abreast, I'll try and get a letter out soon too.

Munising to Harrison ride tomorrow

I was mistaken about what part of H58 is being closed. It's from the beartrap to the Kingston plains. All of H13 would be closed in Alger County.

How do you like losing your Sheriff, and Undersheriff?

Carston

What is the reason for closing H-13? :?: There are very few people that even live on this road, other then the few right aroung Wetmore. Can't figure this one out. :!:

IMO they should have groomed trail running all along both of these. That strip from Melstand is nice once in a while so that you don't have to take 8 if it's beaten to heck.

Plus the ride along the Hurricane Park is nice. Be a shame to lose out on a riding option.

Carston, have you heard anything about the trail that they're trying to open parralel to 8 and make longer so that it relieves some of the burden off of 8? We need another East West running trail up that way so that it becomes groomable again.

Thousands of sleds are good, but if the groomer isn't able to make a dent it's not good.

Gilbey,
I don't know anything about a new trail. You would need more groomers to do the new trail. In my opinion, the Munising groomers would be able to handle the exixting trail, if someone else was running the operation. If it's a matter of money, I'm sure they could raise it. They are supposed to have 4 groomers this season, but when they went from 2 to 3, the grooming got worse. I do most of my riding south of the Buckhorn.

I was over to Doc's today. His turbo is sweet. It sounds like a Ferrari.

You ought to go to the meeting Tuesday, if you can make it. I have to go back home Sunday.

I don't know if you still have my email address. cseales@netonecom.net

RX1Yooper, you've GOT to post this message on all the TY boards, and spread the word around! These are some of our favorite spots to ride in Muni, and we need to at least make an attempt at showing the power that be how much we care.

Complacency is our enimy here folks, one noisy land owner can shut us down if we don't make a little more noise! :x

Do you guys have an email address to write to for these folks?

John,

I agree with you, and hope you got your letter in the mail.

I posted the info here, on every forum at Amsnow, and on Trail Conditions.

The problem is that most people are too lazy to spend 5 minutes to send a letter, but will be complaining when we loose trails. I think you know that I was one of activists that worked for more than 10 years to get a concealed carry bill passed in Michigan. Our persistance paid off, but our numbers were very low, compared to the amount of people that are taking advantage of our long, hard work. That doesn't make these people bad. I guess it's just human nature.

Hey Carston! It's been a long time! Thanks for the hard work you put in, thanks to the progress and crime stats from Michigan, other states are passing 'shall issue' statutes. It's a great thing you've worked for, I just wish my wife would allow me to follow through on it...

I'll copy the text and get it on the other two boards to make sure everyone sees this. We really need emails to those in power up there!
