No the can stay. Just remove the covers and guts the nut on the top shafts is a 32mm.

You can leave track and drivers in, just loosen the track tension.

How much sag are you running in your track? While it's possible to do it without loosing the track tension it certainly make it easier so it's not fighting you.

i run the track as loose as it can be run without ratcheting. Not a lot of fuss -was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.
