Take a look at this video. My lower balljoins are complete toast after about 1200 miles. Will be interesting to see what my dealer says about this. What do you think? Replaced under warranty or not?

My dealer replaced my ball joints no problem. Yamaha knows about the ball joint issue and are replacing when they fail. I rode 2500 miles before I had mine replaced.

mine are shot after 1000 miles dealer called yamaha and they are replacing them, the original stock # is no longer available so they must have made a change hopefully the new ones will last longer, should be here in about a month.

Talked to the dealer today and they will replace them for free. Good news but I´m still amazed how bad these original lower balljoints held up.

I read that they had bad ones with a BURR on them, and they completely trashed themselves in a short time.
Yami put new ones in the 09's.

Deadman you are usually spot on, but in this case there must have been MANY with a 'burr' on them. (as in cast in! lol) I haven't seen a single FX Nytro with over 300 miles on it that these ball joints were not showing wear... No the typical Yamaha fashion, I hope they got it right for '09.

I'm pretty dang sure I just read that in Snowtech magazine.......might have been the useless snowgoer magazine tho....

I wonder if the slop in them could have caused other problems as well in the 08 fronts.

By Snowgoer you mean Bombardier magazine right....Or it could also be called anti-yamaha magazine.
I was riding with the editor, test pilot and another for 4 days last year. Never anything good to say about Yamaha...Raved about BRP. I understand personal preference, but wouldn't writing/editing a magazine require an impartial person?
Oh well, back on topic. I haven't checked my ball joints yet, but Seadoo season is winding down. Planning on pulling my rear shock for revalve, have to check the ball joints at the same time.
My left shock was not centered before i changed to new balljoints, now everything is centered.

My shocks weren´t centered either... just a little bit off. Everything is apart now and the subframe looks just fine. Will replace bushings with Ulmers kit and also 4 new ball joints under warranty. I think this will do the trick.

Heard from my dealer this morning, Yamaha is replacing the ball joints and the a-arm bushings. Parts aren't here yet, should be in a few weeks. I'm happy. Wig
