From what I'm reading on TY, we need to pick the Apex's to get them to hookup. I ran railroad beds last year with another GT and two Attaks. I could not outrun one of the Attaks, we went miles and we maintained the same distance from each other. The beds were meally and I think his extra track length gave him the advantage. All sleds were stock with no studs.

I run 99% of the time on high speed trails or across lakes, never on ice, powder or boondocking. I'm wondering what the consensus is for picks for high speed trail performance. Type, length, backer type and number of picks appreciated. TIA.

I see you are going on 24 hours with zero replies :(

Studs are a life saver on ice. Great hole shots on firmly packed snow. But for top speed, studs could actually slow you down. More rotational weight obviously.....so much depends on conditions.

Not on ice much, or a drag racer 120 would be OK. stud boy alum backers are good. But alot of my stud boy studs have bent. Will replace them with Woodys megabites and tall nuts already waiting for me.

Get with Richie at Rich Motorsports in the vendor section. He will set you up perfectly.

but again, if the sole purpose for studding is a little more top end, might not help, could bring you down a mph or 2.

I went with 96 Studboy's down the middle..with the double backers and NOW aluminum tall nuts. I run 90% groomed trail with some lakes and roads thrown in there. I just wanted studs for safety...I've been caught in acouple of dICEY situations unstudded and learned that it's not worth being unstudded.

Get the tall nuts right off the bat...
