Can anyone give me a baseline of what weight and where in the weight to put along with what degree of wrap on the spring in the secondary for this kit. Just got it in and needed a start point that I can adjust from to save some time. Going on a trip and not alot of play time to dial it in. Stock 07 Attak GT with ice ripper track. i am about 230 with stuff on!
Thanks for the help!

Does it have the adjustable weights? Mine came preset for my weight and I just played with the spring tension.. I believe set the secondary to 6-3 for general trail riding... If you are doing testing on ice run it at 6-2, it will work better. Let it pull to 10,300-10,400 and on the the long run you should be 10,800-11,000 in a 1500ft+ run.

Jester,
I'm with Rockerdan, do you have the DPYR 62's that require rivets? I believe the new proline kit has the threaded screws for adjusting weight. If it's the rivet set up, we can definately help you with the weight in each hole.

huh?
The red primary was to lower the engagement from the original primary spring in the early kits. Early kits had Black/Blue primary 53-133 and folks didn't like the high engagement. Red is 39-133.
The black secondary he has is the earlier version of the red secondary. Same springs, except the tangs are not in the same spots and require different twist to achieve the same results.

Agreed... But the red (and I mean all red) spring I got with my kit from Wheellock, was a red Primary spring and this was the first season release and it had the red Primary spring and it came in at 4500RPM. It was not untill later that he offered a lower engagement spring.

you guys are both exactly correct...the first RED spring from JOHN was hi engage....sucked really i didnt like it.....then DALE came with another RED with less engage, same finish.
and Jonathan is correct exactly in that the TANGS were OFF on the black original PL spring,so we had to set them to 110 or something.....i got both REDS now but in all reality black secondary is same.
I still like this kit....Im not sure if i just got a fast muther of an apex but i gotta say with my PL kit i have NOT been beat yet...actually not even been run with even close .....and machs, well i can run beside most of them and take several too.....
I love this sled!

This is the new kit that I just bought from Sledwerx with the new screw in adjustable weights that can be adjusted trailside. They have the same type of weight as the turbo's. I would assume that the secondary should be the same as the earlier proline setup but the primary with the screw in weight looks pretty cool and easy. I could try to figure it out myself but why screw with it as I am sure John Wheelock will have exact settings etc. Just wondered if anyone else had tried them yet to save some time. I am going to install the secondary helix tonight, the weights, springs etc and screw in the the weights as per some one with knowledge of how they are supposed to work. The weight goes in the base right through to the tip I would imagine that you would have to count turns and size of weight but that is a guess as I am used to using the side mounted adjustable. I have to red springs in the kit along with the same helix as before it seems.
Thanks if anyone has any information.

Set the secondary @ 6/2 for a 80 deg twist. If your machine is broke in with over 1000 miles, it would be weather dependent and rider weight dependent, but shoot for 10,700-10,800 on the tach. Yesterday here, I ran them with no weight in them for a 180 lb rider @ around 30-25 degrees in my Attak geared with a 23/40. If is is colder and making power, put 1.5-2 grams in the center of the weight. This should get you real close. You can throw the set screws and the allen wrench in the trunk and make changes trailside too. If your 230#, just put them in bare and start there.

Thanks very much that is exactly what I am looking for. I will start with them bare as I am about 230 and add some as needed. Looks like a slick setup.KnappAttack said:Set the secondary @ 6/2 for a 80 deg twist. Very nice to be able to change weight in seconds, without taking the weights out of the clutch. Also, can change the balance of the shift moving the set screws into, or away from the tip. Very slick indeed.
