So there's no packing in there from the factory????? Just hollow?

Theres no fibrous packing like a 2 stroke. The reduction in sound is done through resinating sound waves through the baffles or tubes in the pictures
The sound deadening is accomplished by directing the gasses back and forth between the chambers. Notice the small holes in the tubes, they help cancel the sound waves.

interesting...looks like I'll be shortening those tubes!

Just remove them. After you shorten them all that does is interupt the flow and create heat
If you remove all of the tubes it is way to loud. Open it up a little and it should sound sweet, that is my plan this year.

Have you haerd one fully open???

Yes, and it was way too loud for the trails I ride on. It does however sound sweet at idle, and wicked on a full throttle pull.

I have a fully gutted one and want to add some back to it. Does anyone know what the Simons exhaust recommendation is in his power up kit?

What do you mean "open it up a little"?

Also, is this gutting any of the stuff out of the exhaust reversible? I'm afraid of doing that to my exhaust and then not liking the sound at all and having to buy a new one.
