Sled has terrible bubbling and gurgling between 4500-6000RPM when not on boost. Runs great when accelerating, but cracking when trying to cruise at this RPM.
Was at 2700ft and 8 degrees F, today. Sled accelerates crisp and clean and builds boost well. Ran pitot jets from 100 thru 700 and it seems to like 700 on low boost best. My EGT sensor is back by the turbo, but highest reading w/700 jet was 1056. The smaller I went with the pitot jet the lower the EGT went.
Boost guage shows 6lbs on hard pull, but peak on guage shows it spikes to 11lbs, then settles back to 6. Is that much of a spike normal?
Sled starts great, with only key, no throttle. Really feels crisp and clean at any acceleration point.
It just refuses to cruise at above RPM. Jets are 135 mains, stock pilots at 2 turns off seat.
Is it time to drop the needles? And will that mean I will have to go smaller on pitot jet to keep everything good under boost? Egt is approx 800 degrees when gurgling.
I'm guessing its rich because of the low EGT reading. Thanks

A few thoughts.......
Back by the turbo is quite a ways away from the motor for the EGT to get good readings.
The EGT should go lower with a smaller pitot jet. They work the opposite of a carb jet. Smaller is richer. Larger is leaner.
Although I do not like the location of your EGT 1056 with a 700 pitot indicates you are to rich.
Do not touch you needles untill you have your mains correct.

Ray, what pito are you running now? I am still getting the popping at low throttle settings, 1/8 to 1/4. I have a 310 in there now with 132.5 mains.

Just went to 125 mains and now I have a lean condition down low. I'm going to richen my fuel screw. Where is yours?

quick check if not sure if lean or rich..... put in a 100 main jet in the pito tube... check conditions..... then replace it with a 700 and check it again... if it runs better with the 100 then it suggests you need more fuel..... now go to the needles and move down a clip or two... do the opposite should it run better with the 700 may also want to check the fuel presure ..... here i would go to terry at bender and see where he is setting the stock kits.... should be around 5lbs.. check to be sure... if you are having these problems after a needle change, check out to see if you put the needles with the spacers in back the way they should be....

Boost guage is showing 11lbs of boost in both high and low setting. Disconnected the T between actuator and turbo, and replaced with new hose elminating the T and still 11lbs. This should be low boost, right?
Bender is overnighting a new actuator. The wastegate is totally closed and the actuator fits right on wastegate.
If I lenghten the rod, the wastegate will be hanging open under idle and just off idle.
Bender said not to lenghten rod.
Worse part of this was I was with my 2 buddies on a F7 and ZR 9 and had to hear about buying a Cat.
Was running 93 octane pump gas and put a 100 pitot jet in to see if it was possibly bad boost reading, and only made it about 300 Ft. before EGT hit 1100.
Babied it back to the car off boost to keep EGT down.

Think I found the problem. The rod coming out of the actuator was not centered, and was pushing down and hitting the hole in the actuator and binding. Turned the rod with pliers so it lines up properly with the wastegate arm.

put race fuel in that thing until you have it figured out. The last thing you want is a blown motor.

Will do that for sure.

Big Dog my EGT was installed right before the turbo (engine side) on the exhaust side. I do not know what Temp reading is accurate, I believe that the motor is 200 or more degrees cooler than the location by the turbo because I saw Temps last year over 1400 degrees and it scared the crap out of me. I checked out the motor and it most definatly was not that hot. I would say if your EGT is back by the Turbo and is reading 1300 degrees then you should be close. 1150-1200 is very safe. I am going to put mine up close to the motor. I only have 1 probe but I am positive by reading only 1 cylinder I will get a more accurate reading.
I think you are rich like Spray said. Change your EGT so you get better readings would be my recomendation then start tuning that way you will have more accurate Temp readings.
