Alright, after riding too late into this spring i wore my carbide down to my ski. My fault, i F'ed up. I put new carbides on saturday and went for a ride. It feels like the front end is biting too much, feels like i am pushing the sled too much and its not going very easy. Bites in the corners and wants to tip.
I am getting crazy amounts of darting too. I am wondering if i need to buy new skis to cure this problem, or if my suspension needs adjusting.
I just got this sled in the spring, so i really don't know much about it.
I would also consider trying the ski-pipe mod too, but i think if its already biting too much then that might be worse yet.
If i let off the gas around 55-65 mph it feels like the front is digging right in and making the back end feel really loose.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

well a few things, loosen your front springs so they have just enough pressure that they are not loose with the front end off the ground. Then let the front strap out one hole. try it see if that helps, if not then set the tranfer on the rear susp. to one notch from max. This worked on a GT, the rtx susp is diff. but this set up should point you in right direction. also because you have 2 shocks on the rtx try putting more pressure on the front spring in rear susp. That will keep some of the wieght off the skis when braking.

Replace or shim the skis
How much carbide (inches)? are you rinning.
are you running studs?
13 mm sway bar to stop ski lift in corners
Limeter strap and control rod adjustments to help but he more you let them out the more push you get and the more ski lift. If this is a sled you rode last yr and were happy with it sounds like you went with more carbide and this is what they do, BITE MORE.
You have less push so your more aggressive into the turn and cause more front lift. More front bite will also cause your rear to want to step out. In NASCAR this is called a loose condition. the back wants to pass the front if you were tight the front would push and the back stays behind you.
Loose is fast just need to learn to ride it that way. Just watch Days Of Thunder.

i am running 6" carbides, no studs.
i am wondering if i purchase pilots skis if this will help or if i should try doing the ski pipe modification.

This is an 06 rtx only one shock in the mono rear.
I am not sure what the ski pipe mod is.
All skis with carbides are going to give you the heavy front bite. A change or shims will remove the darting. You will always have a bit of the rear moving on you on hard pack or ice with no studs. The stock ski with no studded track is a 3" carbide the more carbide the more stick the front end will have.

Replacing the skis is the only really good solution. The solutions above will help but you still won't be overly happy on most trail conditions.
I have a set of Slydog trail skis that I'll give you a good deal on if you are interested. They work really great. 90% of darting is gone and they bite well in corners. My skis are the red and black camo pattern. If you are interested, PM me. I'll let them go for a lot less than brand new.

uh rtx has fox floats on the front from the factory. try around 50psi(adjusted with the front end off the ground, shocks fully extended) than adjust from there. and also try not to let completely off the throttle. engine breaking will nose dive hard.arcticace said:well a few things, loosen your front springs so they have just enough pressure that they are not loose with the front end off the ground. thats what im thinking is that i just need different ski's.
I have had multiple Yamaha sleds, and their skis have always sucked and i have always had these problems. Im thinking its time for some new skis.

Try shimming the skis first!!! I tell ya iy is a huge improvement. Cheap, easy and it works.
When you switched out your carbides were they really really worn on the front edges?
