If you cannot find what you need, I will sell you a fitting you can use. It is part of our Lightning Pro Evac kit and acts as a vent/drain fitting.

Let me know if I can help.

Here is what I did with my Northeast Turbo kit.

Ted on your setup is that line coming directly from the valve cover oil filler plug?

It is not very difficult to remove the side cover. It can be done with minimal mess and effort.

We originally drained our turbo in the side cover also like Ted, but were concerned what could happen if a belt blew, so we drain in a slightly different location and use the valve cover location as a vent primarily and a drain for the evac box secondly.

Ted your sled looks like a rocket in the videos. It makes all the other sleds in the vid look silly. Did any of the sleds want/dare to race you again. I am guessing probably NOT, especially if they new they were on video. Nice job.

It comes from the bottom of the turbo, believe me the hardest part about pulling that and drilling it is cleaning the gasket.

Turbos need a good gravity drain or the will burn oil.

All I am needing is the ventilation aspect for the e-ram setup I am doing. Any suggestions.

Thanks Bob, yeah we lined up all day with them, you know how it goes, you can beat them 50 times if they beat you once they won, so they never give up.

But is never happend.

This video says it all, taken from the top end, if you look hard you can see the cone in the snow dust.

Thats what I call spanking them good! Great job! Notch another win for the blue team.

If blowing a belt has you worried why not run a hard line to it . You could run copper or aluminum tubing or even use braided stainless and make it look real clean. Ken.

givemeaboost,

It's not so much that I am worried, it is just the old "Murphy's Law" saying that if it can happen it will happen. When we were designing our kit it was more a matter of can we put this in a better spot and eliminate potential problems, and for our Lightning Pro Turbo Kit we utilized a boss area on the crankcase housing. It actually drains into the same area that Teds does and as Ted is doing allows for a very large drain hose from the turbo. Turbos that don't drain well burn oil. The same goes for venting, if the engine crankcase can't breathe it will push oil, that is why we vent in 3 locations. It might be a little overkill but it seems to work very well.

givemeaboost,
Do I remember seeing some pictures of your homemade turbo setup? If I remember, I thought you had some good ideas incorporated into yours. Do you have any current pics?

sorry to have gotten off track

Hot Rod Rooster, Where exactly are you draining your turbo? Is is on that flat boss area next to the side cover and stock crankcase vent or further down. If you already have a good turbo drain location use the valve cover port as a vent.
