So on my Nypex I am still having a problem with oil consumption. I upgraded to the GTX2860 turbo last year and love it but still find my sled using oil throughout the day. Im 99 % sure its going through the turbo. I am running the oil line teed off the oil pressure sensor with Powder Lites line having the restrictor at the lower fitting. I have aprox 16 inches of 5/8 return line that leaves the turbo and comes in a fitting I put in the mag housing. Just wondering what is the smallest restrictor people have used on these before? Thanx for any info.

Shad, what motor oil are you running? How much oil is it going thru throughout the day?
My Apex the last few seasons seems to be consuming more oil after I started running super slippery Mobil1 0W40, and I've changed my center section, checked the restrictor, etc. I've come to the conclusion that I'm losing oil past the piston rings, because I don't see any nor smell any signs of raw oil getting pushed past the turbo seals. I don't get alot of blow-by out the CC breather and cylinder leak down is good, and the oil consumption goes down when I run YamahaLube instead. However I also have Wiseco Low CR pistons, and have heard / read that the Wiseco's aren't the greatest with oil retention?
At this point, I'm not going to worry about it any more, gonna keep running Mobil1 and just add a little to the tank when it needs it. Unless maybe running a thicker weight oil might help.

Okay that seem to be my exact case, I have no oil whatsoever leaving my crank case breather, leak down is right on, compression is consistent. Scratching my head here too. I have low comp JE pistons. I might use up to 500ml in a day. I am using the 0w30 Yamalube right now. I got my restrictor down to 27thou. I do notice oil burn on start up but the guys following me during the day aren't saying they are smelling oil either. Interesting, sounds like the same situation. Don't want to do a tear down here when everything checks out. Figured I would be getting more blowby if the rings were failing or my leak down would indicate something as well.

I've seen some really wacky things happen when switching from conventional mineral or semi synthetic blend motor oil (like YamaLube) over to a full synthetic motor oil. Super slippery oil causes rings, seals, gaskets to start to leak that didn't leak before.
Is that 0W30 YamaLube the full or semi synthetic ? Maybe try the W40?

BTW, which GTX2860 model did you go with? Let me know how you like that... have been contemplating upgrading from my GT2860 to a GTX series myself.

Interesting, ever since I blew my motor and went to Wiseco Low CR piston, my sled has been going through oil, using Yamalube 0W40, had a leak down done everything checks out ok. I had the intercooler tube off the other day and there are signs of oil in the tube and in the turbo itself. It seems to blow right through the exhaust. I was thinking it was the turbo seals but it might just be getting by the pistons. The power seems to be there, just have to top up the oil every ride and the back of the sled is always black.

Yup that's what I'm doing. Wonder where it goes all the time?? Power is solid, clean running, pulls hard, just makes me wonder. Never tried a different type of oil other than Yamalube 0w30 semi in the silver bottle. Just keep adding I guess.

I get black soot on the back of my Apex but it's from the condensation / moisture expelling from the exhaust tips during warm-up, it's not oily.
I truely think this 0W oil is too thin and it weeps past piston rings, valve seals, and even turbo center section ring seals. I think if you ran a thicker oil (5W30, 5W40, 10w30, etc, this consumption would be a non-issue.
