I just got my slydog powder hounds tonight. I took stock skis off, went to put slydogs on and I cannot get the holes on the skis up far enough to get the bolt to go through the spindle
Are they just that hard to align or do I need to make some mods to the rubber piece to make them fit? As always, thanks in advance for your help.

the weight of the sled will push down the rummer enough to get the bolt started....then rock the ski side to side as you push the bolt or lightly tap with a rubber mallet on a socket over the hex head

here is how I was told to do it by slydog. Jack the front end up so that the ski is clear off of the ground. tilt it so you can start the bolt from the outside of the ski. Place a 2x4 under the inside of the ski up to the keel. Let the sled down slowly working the bolt in. Once it sets all the way down in the saddle the bolt goes through pretty easy. Maxdlx

Got them to go. Thanks!
I'm ordering my powderhounds this week, but I'm getting confusing info when I try to order mine - One person tells me pick studboy shaper bars or woodys, and the Yamaha mount kit is $78, another tells me only a "slydog" carbide will work with slydog skis and the mount kit is $30 no matter what type of sled you have? What is there to a mount kit? what am I missing here?

The difference in mounting kits is primarily the different rubbers needed to adapt their skis to various sleds. As I recall you can select various stock carbides from Slydog. Additionally you have choices from other aftermarket carbide manufactures.
I ordered my powderhounds with their 6" carbides. I keep their stock carbides in my trailer as spares. I installed 6" Bergstrom triple point carbides and ski savers last season to my powderhounds. I ordered them specefic to slydog. It was an expensive proposition all toll but I am quite pleased with their combined performance.
Womever carbide manufacturer you choose to go with simply order them specefic to your ski and they will mount up.

c&a carbides are the same as slydog. Get ahold of ulmerracing.com they will set you up. Maxdlx
Are the ski savers necessary? I'm trying to eliminate darting and get some flotation.

I chose to run the ski savers for one reason. Why ruin the keel on a 350 dollar set of skis, when you can use the ski saver for 10 bucks and replace it when the edges get rounded over. JMO

Tal, I have the ski saver on all my ski's. There are several things that the ski saver does and they are all good. The ski saver is another simple product that saves you money. Basically a consumeable keel that helps your steering, and protects your ski from some of the damage you would incur in poorer conditions. Send Al Ulmer an e-mail and tell him what you need. I called Slydog direct and they recommended using him . Got everything I needed, except carbides from them, and at a good price. I live very close to Scott Bergstrom's shop, so I purchase my wear bar's there. I realize the Triplepoints seem VERY expensive, but when you don't have to replace them every season, they really aren't as expensive as some other products. AND they really work as advertised!
