Need help with headlight retainers

i am installing a hid light kit and can't get the ring that holds the headlight in back on anyone have any idea or tip to get them on

They are tricky if your talking about the spring clip ring that pushes in the bulb and holds it in. You have to get both side pushed down then rotate the ring as your pushing the tabs down. You just about need 3 hands to do it. Keep playing with it , you will get it.

After a couple of hours of trying to be a contortionist to get both hands in at the same time and a lot colourful words, I ended up making a tool that holds the retainer, and you can push on it and turn in the retainer with one hand.
I can't seem to upload a picture of the tool to help you out with making one.
The tool is a piece of 1 in PVC electrical conduit (swaged end about an inch and a half long).
Cut grooves just wide enough to hold the ears on the retainer and deep enough to allow you to compress the retainer and twist it into place

Did you remove the headlight assembly or do it in the sled?

It seemed to go pretty easily for me but I did have the headlight on my workbench.

pull the lights out of their housing before installation, install the housing with the retaining clip, put bulbs back in
