Well bare ice not one drop of snow and overheating coolant dont make for fast speeds, but today temp was 15 degrees above, ice hard, but not totally smooth, and bare as a new borns butt, well overheating and very hot slides kept speeds down, alot. Was hoping for 117-120 no way,not even close 111 both times running about 2500 ft. track loose and racheting,as it is brand new,and it is the new hacksaw 9010h 1" studded 108 acrossed board 1/2 chissles and 1/2 1.175 s.s. woodys. Well the track is open all windows but clipped all but every 3rd window, but i feel now that this long track 136 needs hiperfax to really do it any justice on bare ice, unless i add alot more wheels or add slide lube system, but for more trail riding than lake running it will stay on the counter for now. We added more fuel but the results were the same, went from one light to three lights but it was getting so hot and slides so stickeythe fuel did nothing, but we are exspecting snow late tonight, hopefully only a couple inches to test with tomorrow, clutching is mostly stock, yammi apex weights stock helix, stock primary spring and secondary silver spring at 90 degrees, top rpms 10,800 and holding steady, any ideas?? :bling

sounds like all you need is ice scratchers. we run the kind that bolt under the running boards, one on each side. most years we lake run in the spring, glare ice no snow at all, and if you dont have these or something comparable, you dont get far. one way to delaminate your new track real quick is get it hot( no snow) and run it fast, been there done that.

Ya thats why we only took 2 pass's and loaded it,will wait until we get some snow, was just hoping for some ultimate top end speed, but got nothing. ;)!

Sounds like fully clipping it would help. What drags more steel against plastic or rubber against plastic?

Punched and clipped mine. Took it out the next weekend, same place, same conditions. Gained 3mph. Very little hyfax wear in 300 miles. (114 gps)
Yup thats the right idea,we are fixing my outside track as i wright, pulled one chissle out,my friend has the track repair kit,and he guarentees it for one year if you dont throw a stud back into that same place, and only 50% if you do,so i will take the chissles out and reinstall my woodys and even though the track came with open windows they only have it clipped every 3rd window,in others words 2 windows open than a clip,so we are going to throw the rest of them in with clips, and see with the addition of the yammi graphit slides the one that are thiner for the viper long track,if they will hold up better and increase top speed,my best on loose to wet snow is 112gps looking for 120 gps,i will post results if it happens..
