Looking for the next stiffer spring than Gold-Red-Gold stock Sidewinder spring. Ideally I’d like the same or close to same finish rate, but a higher start rate. Need engagement around 4200 for a MSD Launch Master I’m adding this year. Thanks.

As far as Yamaha springs go your outta luck, the sidewinder primary spring is off the spring chart and is the stiffest initial setting offered by Yamaha. The Dalton Black/Teal is 15kg heavier but is also stiffer when fully compressed by a fairly large margin. Are you running stock weights?

If your using stock weights you’ll never get the engagement that high with a spring change.
the Dalton Blue/Orange might get you close but you’ll struggle to get a flat shift with the increased tension @ full shift.

Dalton Black/Green might be your answer.....

Only 5kg higher than the stock spring, only worth 200 rpm increase with stock weights.

No chance BBY is using stock weights.......I’m guessing STM Supertips, second guess would be Thunder HH.

Hey bud, I will check to see what I have. Got a ton of test springs that will fit your need. I have a new G-R-G and will put the springs on the tester tonight.

Yamaha yellow/green/yellow is what I ran with supertips for 270hp. Another member on here said that spring worked well for him so I ran it.

I’m running Supertips guys, not stock.

You need a pretty ridiculous spring for 4200 rpm engagement. The heelclicker red or something like that. I run larger rollers which raise engagement, glide washers, and the dalton black/teal is maybe 3600 rpm engagement. You might be able to get higher engagement by loading up tip weight instead of heel weight, but the STM weights work better with the heels loaded in my findings.

@BlueByYou2000 I found a spring that is 10 lbs. more than the stock GRG spring and the finish rate is only 5 lbs. more on the spring tester. The spring is really close to the length of the GRG. I also have a couple longer springs which I will try today.

Ok cool Terry. Let me know what you come up with but sounds promising.
