my middle rear wheel bearing came apart, now I need to replace the wheel. Just wondering what is the easiest way to do this and what size wheel and bearing is required and a good place to get one other than the dealer. thanks much in advance

remove the axel nut and remove the axel. but first loosen the track adjusters, next draw or take a picture of the rear axel and wheels so you know how it goes back together. from memory i think the bearing is a 6004.
If this is the first time the wheel went sideways you cant replace the bearing you have to buy both. If you buy one from a dealer as replacement that one will have a bearing that can be replaced. You can order one from Port Yamaha.

aren't the inner ones on the rx1 replaceable bearings? i know mine and my brothers innner wheel where. the outers are not unless you run aftermarket ones.
Mine was so bad when I changed it that I thought it was like the others where you had to buy a replace before it is replaceable.

thanks for the help guys, so you recommend a oem wheel and bearing not something else?
I got 6500 miles out of my oem and I never touched it at all that is why it was so bad when it did fail. I will be looking after them better now that I know its limits.

you can use aftermarket ones. have not had any problems with them. i am running the realcool wheels from ulmer. brother is running kimpex ones on his. both seem to last the same legnth of time between bearing replacement.

after a lot of bs i finally got the shaft off. The bolt came out of the end of the shaft, the nut didnt come off. Used red thread locker and put the bolt back in. Worked like a charm after figuring out how to do it. Both of the track tensioner bolts are stripped. How do you know if the bearings are replaceable in these wheels? If they all have the split ring does that mean you can replace them??? All my wheels do. I think a need a few new bearings if so. What is the purpose of the 4th wheel kit? I'm looking at doing this since a have everything apart. THANKS again guys

If there is a split ring in there then you can replace bearings.

If there is a snap ring you can replace the bearing.
The 4th wheel helps keep the track aligned. And if you where ever to loose/break a rear wheel you would still have 3 left.

The best and easiest way to replace that inner wheel is to remove the suspension. This removes the tension that the track creates while you're feeding the axle through the idlers, spacers and washers, etc. Also, there's less chance of making a mistake, like flipping the track adjusters around the wrong way.
Upgrading to a 4 wheel kit is a good idea like "yamahas" stated, it could make the difference of making it home on your sled, or a ride in a truck. You can modify the spacers to make your own kit...all you have to do is buy an extra wheel.
I've also changed out all my 4 wheels to Kimpex ones made for Arctic Cat...they are 1/8" larger in diameter (to decrease slider wear), plus they use the same 6004 bearing.
